Thief steals car in Bronx, sparking missing baby scare

An apparent car theft in the Bronx sent the NYPD scrambling looking for a newborn baby believed to be in the back seat — until the mother realized her child was not in the vehicle.

The parent thought the child was strapped into the Honda HRV near E. 230th St. and White Plains Road in Wakefield when the car was lifted around 5 p.m., cops said.

The baby was not actually in the car and was safe with its mother around 6 p.m., cops said in a tweet.
