SHEBOYGAN - The non-profit Thielmann’s Athletic Club will hold a fundraising adult bowling tournament April 8 at Lakeshore Lanes, 2519 S. Business Drive, Sheboygan.

Billed as the “New Velcro Classic Bowling Tournament,” organizer Gary Gasper, a Thielmann’s Athletic Club member, said the tournament aims to resurrect the “famous” Velcro Invitation bowling tournament that was organized by Randy Reklaitis and Randy Thiel starting in 1988 and held at the Avenue Pub Tavern in Sheboygan.

Proceeds from this new tournament and its cash raffle will go toward the Thielmann’s Athletic Club’s Youth Scholarship Bowling Tournament, which is held in December at Lakeshore Lanes. The youth scholarship bowling tournament has awarded more than $80,000 in scholarships to area youth, Gasper said.

Cost to enter the New Velcro Classic Bowling Tournament is $25 per person. There will be 12 four-person teams competing with a handicap. People can contact Gasper at garyjgasper@gmail.com with questions. The athletic club can be reached via email at info@TAClub.org. And Lakeshore Lanes can be contacted at 920-458-1352.
