Things to do around Chicago: An Andy Warhol exhibit, Japanese Breakfast concert and Southport Art Fest

Live music is always playing in Chicago in the summer and this weekend is no exception. Or take a trip out to Glen Ellyn to see “Warhol.”

‘Warhol’

Now at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art at the College of DuPage, an exhibition on the life and work of artist Andy Warhol, running through mid-September. More than 200 original Warhol works and photographs are on display, including 94 artworks from “Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop | Works from the Bank of America Collection” and 150 pieces from the College of DuPage’s permanent collection. Screen prints, Polaroids and more by the artist, plus attractions such as a “Studio 54 Experience” and special events and lectures this summer, offer a look into Warhol’s life in New York during the 1970s and ‘80s.

Millennium Park Film Series

This summer’s series of al fresco movies in Millennium Park opens this week with “Fast Five,” a PG-13 title set in Rio de Janeiro as part of the “Fast & Furious” cycle. From there, movies continue every Tuesday through “Everything Everywhere All at Once” at the end of August.

Dave Matthews Band

The Grammy-winning band that formed in 1991 is still going strong, touring behind their 10th studio album “Walk Around the Moon,” and no better place to see them and sing along with hits like “Ants Marching” and “Crash Into Me” than on the lakefront at the Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island.

Japanese Breakfast

The indie band that was the hit of last summer’s Pitchfork Festival is back in Chicago this weekend for two concerts at the Salt Shed, Chicago’s new live music destination.

Square Roots

This weekend’s street festival in the Lincoln Square neighborhood has long had an Americana musical vibe and benefits in part the Old Town School of Folk Music. Headliners include Superchunk, Divino Niño and Eleventh Dream Day, as well as Jon Langford & Sally Timms as part of the Cosmic Country Showcase. Plus the Sunnyside Family Stage, food from local restaurants and a craft beer showcase.

Chosen Few DJs Picnic and Festival

The Chosen Few Disco Corp. is a group of popular South Side DJs. The original members — Wayne Williams, Jesse Saunders, Tony Hatchett, Alan King and Andre Hatchett — were among the DJs and producers who would create what would become known as House Music. This event aims to embody the atmosphere of a family reunion. Notable DJs and performers making an appearance include Kenny Dope, John Morales, Jamie 3:26, Stan Zeff, Lori Branch, Be Be Winans and Lidell Townsell.

Party in the Park

The EDM Chicago Facebook group is celebrating 10 years with an all-day dance party in Lincoln Park. Local DJs will play music with live artists accompanying them. The event is free, but donations are accepted.

West Fest Chicago

This festival features music selected by Empty Bottle Presents, as well as a DJ stage. Performers include Mark Farina, Nitzer Ebb and Grapetooth. The three-day event also includes a kid fest with train rides, bounce houses and pony rides, as well as a pet fest with a dog obstacle course and paw painting.

Southport Art Fest

This two-day neighborhood street festival all about art features a wide range of artistic mediums, such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, jewelry, sculpture, photography, wood, glass, paper, metal and mixed media. Artists include Carolina Garzon, Katherine Badilla and Kevin Lucius, while musical performances include Manny Torres, Cecy Santana and Bryan Cee. Plus, a children’s section will have interactive games and other activities.
