“The Book of Mormon”: The musical that would be an outrage if it wasn’t so outrageously funny is back in Chicago for a two-week run at the Cadillac Palace. With book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone (”South Park”), this touring cast stars Sam McLellan as Elder Price. Ritmo del Mar: Explore the Shedd Aquarium while listening to salsa, cumbia, merengue and Latin jazz. Participate in salsa dance lessons or watch the pros as Projecto 7 and Carpacho y Su Super Combo perform. Wilco: Chicago’s hometown band is playing a residency of three nights at the Riv, with a plan to not repeat a song for the whole run. Planet Her Bazaar: In honor of Women’s History Month, Refine Collective presents the second annual community-focused evening bazaar that’s focused on women. The evening will feature more than 50 Chicago-based women makers, artists and musicians. Participating businesses include Band of Gold, Kayla Customs and Paper Bunny Press. Shamrock Shuffle: While entries for the 8K Run and 2-Mile Walk on Sunday have sold out, you can still kick off the spring running season by registering to participate in The Mile. Participants of all abilities, from competitive athletes to families to walkers, can race through Grant Park. “Proximity”: This weekend opens the second Chicago-set world premiere in Lyric Opera’s current season, following the sold-out “Factotum” in February. Directed by Yuval Sharon, “Proximity” consist of three new operas: “The Walkers,” composed by Daniel Bernard Roumain with libretto by Anna Deavere Smith; “Four Portraits,” composed by Caroline Shaw with libretto by Shaw and Jocelyn Clarke; and “Night,” composed by John Luther Adams with libretto by John Haines.
