Fish Fry - Adel

5-7 p.m. March 24, 31 at St. John's Church, 24043 302nd Pl, Adel.

St. John's Catholic Church will host a community fish fry on Friday nights. The menu includes hand battered fish, grilled cheese sandwich, fries and coleslaw. The cost is $12 a plate. Dine in and carry out will be available.

Fish Fry - Granger

5:30-7 p.m. Fridays through March 31 at Assumption Catholic Church, Granger.

The Knights of Columbus Fish Fry will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Fridays through March 31 for dine-in or drive-thru at Assumption Catholic Church. The menu includes baked and fried fish, baked potato or fries (dine-in only), coleslaw, dinner roll, cheese pizza and Catholic Women's Club homemade desserts (dine-in only). A free-will donation will be taken.

Fish Fry - Van Meter

5:30-7 p.m. March 24, 31 and April 7 at Van Meter Veterans Reception Center.

A fish fry will be held on Friday nights through Lent at the Van Meter Veterans Reception Center. The menu includes fish, fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. A free-will donation will be taken for dine-in or drive-thru.

5:30-7 p.m. Fridays through March 31 at St. Pat's School Gym, Perry.

The Knights of Columbus will host Lenten fish fries on Fridays through March 31. The menu will include fried or baked fish, fish tacos, potatoes, coleslaw, drink and dessert. Shrimp is $3 extra. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5-10 and free for kids 4 and under, for a maximum of $30 per family.

Mobile Food Pantry

Crossroads Church will host a mobile food pantry from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25.

March Bird Hike

8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25 at Voas Nature Area, Minburn.

As part of the Beginner to Birder Project, DCCB is offering seasonal bird hikes. The plan is to start early in the season when diversity is lower and introduce learners to lesser-known species. As the seasons transition from winter to summer, we will include more species as the phenomenon allows. Binoculars and books provided. Registration required through the DCCB Eventbrite page.

Dallas County Vietnam Era Veteran Recognition

9 a.m. Saturday, March 25 at Veterans Reception Center, 910 Main St., Van Meter.

Daddy Daughter Dance

The Perry Girls Softball Tournament Teams will host a Daddy Daughter Dance for preschool to fifth grade students on Saturday, March 25. The cost is $10 per couple and $5 for each additional person. Flowers and pictures will be available, not included in the admission price, as well as drinks and snacks. All proceeds will go to pay for tournaments for the 8U-12U Perry teams.

Bingo Fundraiser

A Bingo Fundraiser for Raccoon River Pet Rescue will be held on Sunday, March 26. Doors Open at noon with bingo starting at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome (kids too). Twenty gift baskets will be awarded along with a grand prize (blackout round) of $250 Perry Bucks. Walking tacos, drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. Bring your own daubers or you can purchase one. Come EARLY as space is limited!

Red Cedar Chamber Music Concert

Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering a fruit tree grafting workshop from 6-8 p.m. on March 31 at the Dallas County Extension Office. Participants will hear a presentation on why and how to graft fruit trees by commercial horticulture specialist Patrick O’Malley and take part in hands-on apple tree grafting. Preregistration is required at least one week prior to the workshop at go.iastate.edu/JNGEC4. Limit of 25 people per workshop. Registration fee includes rootstocks, scions and equipment needed to self-graft two apple trees to take home for $40 per person. 'Matilda the Musical'

7 p.m. March 31, 1 and 7 p.m. April 1 at Perry Performing Arts Center.

Tickets are on sale now for the Perry High School's spring production of "Matilda the Musical." Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 and will include a live pit orchestra. Tickets are $8 adults and $5 students. Tickets are available online and at the door.

Bouton Breakfast

A breakfast will be served on Saturday, April 1 at the Bouton Community Center. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, ham, eggs, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, toast, coffee, milk and orange juice. Rain Barrel Workshop

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Dallas County will be offering a Rain Barrel Workshop on April 1. Come learn about water quality in Iowa and build your own rain barrel to do your part to reduce flooding and stormwater pollution on your property. All materials will be provided. Pre-registration is required. Please only register if you will be available to attend, as space is limited and materials will be purchased for you. $50 will be due in the form of cash or check at the door. Easter Egg Hunt & Reading with the Easter Bunny

12 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at Perry Hy-Vee.

Hop on over to you Perry Hy-Vee on April 1 for an Easter Egg Hunt starting at noon. Right afterwards Mary from the Perry Public Library will be reading an Easter story joined by the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny will be stopping by from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The hunt will take place outside on the west side of the building weather permitting. During the event stop by our Market Grille where kids eat free with a purchase of an adult entree.

The Minburn American Legion Osborne Post #99 is hosting a fish fry from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 at the Washington Township School. The menu includes fried fish, French fries, coleslaw, drink and bars. A free-will donation will be taken. Dine in, carry out or drive up service available.

Jamaica Lions Breakfast Benefit

7-11 a.m. Sunday, April 2 at Jamaica Community Center.

The Jamaica Lions Club will host a breakfast benefit on Sunday, April 2 for the family of Daisy and Walter Gavidia-Fuentes, of Jamaica. The menu will include baked ham, eggs, country fried potatoes, toast and drinks. A bake sale will also be held. Attendees are encouraged to bring eyeglasses and hearing aids.

Puzzle Fundraiser

1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 2 at Perry High School Library.

Adel Kiwanis Club Easter Egg Hunt

3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 2 at Kinnick-Feller Riverside Park.

The Adel Kiwanis will host an Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 2. The event will also feature pictures with the Easter Bunny, fire trucks, face painting, prizes and more. The hunt will be broken into age groups, with 0-3 at 3 p.m., 4-6 at 3:30 p.m. and 7-10 at 4 p.m. Nonperishable donations for The Good Samaritan Food Pantry will be taken, along with free-will donations for the Adel Kiwanis Club. All donations are disbursed within the ADM community.

Perry’s Downtown Fire History

6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 2 at Carnegie Library Museum.

Join the Perry Iowa Historical Society as they present the destruction and rebuilding that has happened in downtown Perry from Otley to Bateman as a result of fire. They will show the resilience of Perry through an extensive personal collection of pictures and stories. Pictures span a time period from 1989 to 2020 and offer an engaging visual history of Perry. Beekeeping Basics Class

6-8 p.m. Monday, April 3 at ISU Extension and Outreach-Dallas County Office, 28061 Fairground Road, Adel.

Zack Koopman, ISU Agriculture Specialist, will lead a two-hour ‘Beekeeping Basics’ course on April 3 designed to introduce the fundamentals of beekeeping and help attendees decide if this hobby is right for them.
