Public Safety Night

4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 15 on 2nd Street between Warford and Willis, Perry.

Check out the Perry Farmers Market from 4-7 p.m. every Thursday, but especially on the Third Thursday of the month for special events. Thursday, June 15 is Public Safety Night at the Perry Farmers Market. Special guests will include the Perry Fire Department, Perry Police Department, Dallas County EMS and Dallas County Emergency Management. The food truck will be Perry Fire Department. The meal includes a choice of hot dog ($5), cheeseburger ($6), pork loin sandwich ($6) or steak sandwich ($10), chips and a drink.

Dallas County Pre-Fair Rodeo

7:30 p.m. June 16 and 17 at Dallas County Fairgrounds, Adel.

Join the Dallas County Fair Association for its two-day pre-fair rodeo in conjunction with Wright Rodeo Company. Live music will follow each night of the rodeo, with Jordan Beem performing Friday and Royce Johns on Saturday. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12.

BACooN Ride

Saturday, June 17 along Raccoon River Valley Trail.

The 71-mile ride on the Raccoon River Valley Trail combines the love of bacon and the love of bike riding, with bacon stops in each town along the route. Camping will be back at Centennial Park in Waukee and packets can be picked up at Waukee Northwest High School. The event will kick off with a bacon stop at Kinship Brewery. The BACooN Ride presented by Veridian Credit Union will travel counter-clockwise towards Dallas Center, Minburn and Perry. The route will continue around the loop and return from Adel to Waukee. Granger Yoga In The Park

8-9 a.m. Saturday, June 17 at Centennial Park, Granger.

Yoga in the Park is designed for improving community health, energizing, and relaxation. You are encouraged to bring a mat or a towel as well as some water and clothes you can move in. No registration for the class is required, just show up ready to relax, release and enjoy.

Van Meter Yoga in the Park

8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17 at American Legion Shelter House, Van Meter.

The Van Meter Parks and Rec board will host Yoga in the Park at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday mornings in June and July. The group will meet at the American Legion Shelter House. Attendees should bring a towel or mat and a friend. The free classes will be held on June 17 and July 1, 15, 29.

Woodward Fireman Breakfast and Raffle

9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at Woodward Plaza.

Did you miss grabbing a ticket for the Blackstone Grill during Friends and Neighbors Day? Come out to the Woodward Farmers Market on Saturday, June 17. The fire department will be selling raffle tickets and will have free-will donation breakfast burritos at the Woodward Plaza (main street). There will also be option to eat inside the social center.

Kickoff to Summer Farmers Market

9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at Woodward Plaza.

Come to the Woodward Plaza (Main Street) to shop your local vendors at the Woodward Farmers Market, get some food, shop the local stores on Main Street. There will be music and a fun activity for the kids.

Operation Christmas Child Car Show

9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at New Hope Church, 25712 Hwy 6, Adel.

New Hope Adel is hosting a car show to raise money with free-will donations and awareness for Operation Christmas Child. Bring your vehicle to share, car, truck, tractor, or bus. There will be food and fun activities for the entire family. No entry fee or pre-registration, just a free-will donation to support Operation Christmas Child.

Adel Kiwanis Inflatable Night

5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 20 at Fullers parking lot.

Join the Adel Kiwanis for a fun family event as they will bring inflatables to Fullers parking lot on Tuesday, June 20, in conjunction with the Adel Farmer's Market. Free-will donations will be accepted, with all proceeds going to the Adel Kiwanis Club and back into the ADM community.

Free Merchant Movies

11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21 at Perry Grand 3 Theatres.

The Perry Grand 3 Theatres will continue the 2023 summer movies with "Sing 2" on June 21. All movies will be shown at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays through Aug. 2. Admission is free thanks to local sponsors. Look for a full list of upcoming movies on the Perry Grand 3 Theatres Facebook page.

Summer Solstice Sunset Celebration

8-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 21 at astronomical clock at Hanging Rock, 916 Redfield St, Redfield.

Join DCCB naturalists at the astronomical clock atop the ridge at Hanging Rock to observe and celebrate the sunset of Summer Solstice. The meaning of the word solstice is, “sol”- sun and “stice”- to stand still. Perhaps the frenetic pace of your life could use a little stand-still time. St. Patrick's Rummage Sale

June 22-24 at St. Patrick's School Gym, Perry.

The Regina Guild will sponsor the St. Patrick's Rummage Sale at the school gym. The sale will be open from 12-8 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, June 23 and 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, June 24.

Swimming Pool Ribbon Cutting

4 p.m. Friday, June 23 at 1108 Vine Street, Dallas Center.

We could not be more excited to celebrate the opening of our new swimming pool in Dallas Center! We will hold a ribbon-cutting at 4 p.m. with open swimming immediately following. We hope you can join us for the celebration!

Movie in the Park

Adel Parks and Recreation will bring community members free movies in the park this summer starting with "Cars" on Friday, June 23. The family-friendly showing will begin at sundown. Attendees should bring their own blankets/chairs. Popcorn will be provided.

Adel Parks and Rec Power Wheels Nationals

Saturday, June 24 at Kinnick-Feller Park, Adel.

The second annual Adel Parks and Rec Power Wheels Nationals, presented by Alley Auto Sales and BigDeal Car Care, will be held on Saturday, June 24. Race day registration will be from 9-10 a.m. with races beginning at 11 a.m. Races will be held for ages 2-7. The divisions include Limited Pro Stock - ages 2 to 4 and Pro Stock - ages 5 to 7. Community power wheels will be available for kids who don't have one but still want to participate. At the conclusion of the event, all 25 power wheels will be given away via raffle. Helmets and seatbelts are required and local mechanics will be inspecting vehicles the day of the event. Trophies will be handed out to the top three podium finishers in each class. Participants are encouraged to pre-register at adel.activityreg.com

Dawson United Methodist Church Final Service

10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 25 at Dawson United Methodist Church.

The final service for the Dawson United Methodist Church, which is closing its doors, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 25. Lunch will be served following the service. The church will furnish the main dish, drinks and table service. Attendees are welcome to bring side dishes or desserts to share. RSVPs are requested, if possible, by calling 515-428-8488. A hymn sing will follow the lunch. Area residents are welcome to take part in any or all of the events on June 25.

Perry Mural Project - We Are Perry
