Perry Firefighters Association Grab-n-Go Dinner

5-6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 at 908 Willis Ave., Perry.

The Perry Firefighters Association will serve a Grab-n-Go Dinner on Friday, Oct. 6 in the Perry Fire Department parking lot. The menu includes hot dogs for $5, cheeseburgers or pork loin sandwiches for $6 and steak sandwiches for $10. Each meal comes with chips and a drink.

Bouton Breakfast

7-10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at Bouton Community Center.

A breakfast will served on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Bouton Community Center. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, ham, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, toast, coffee, milk and orange juice. The price is $8 for adults, $5 for children 5-12 and kids under five are free. Save the date for the next breakfasts on Nov. 4 and Dec. 2.

PerryDice Cruizers Car Show

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 on Second Street, Perry.

Bring the entire family to downtown Perry on Saturday, Oct. 7 for the PerryDice Cruizers Car Show. All cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome and there is no entry fee. Dash plaques will be available for the first 100 arrivals along with trophies for all participants. A free-will donation will be taken with proceeds going to benefit Raccoon River Pet Rescue. Wauktoberfest

4:30-11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at Waukee Downtown Triangle.

The Waukee Area Historical Society will host Wauktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 7. Indulge in authentic German flavors, raise your steins high and dance to the rhythms of traditional and modern tunes from the incredible bands: Czech It Out Band, Polka Police and Suede. Sip on craft beers, savor bratwurst and enjoy the lively atmosphere with friends and fellow history enthusiasts. Bouton's Haunted Church

The Bouton Haunted Church, sponsored by the Bouton Fire Department, returns from 7-10 p.m. every Saturday night in October. Admission is $5 per person.

Music in the Prairie: Peter Mayer Concert

4-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8 at Kuehn Conservation Area.

DCCB is excited to introduce you to the music and lyrics of singer-songwriter Peter Mayer. His biography states, "Peter writes songs for a small planet--songs about interconnectedness and the human journey--songs about life on earth and the mysterious and wondrous fact of our existence." Music in the Prairie is a new invitation by DCCB to put you in the wilds. Please come out and join us for this first-of-its-kind program. The concert is free. Bring your lawn chairs for setting in the arena at Kuehn. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at Earlham High School.

Woodward Social Center Luncheon

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9 at Woodward Social Center.

The Woodward Social Center will serve a luncheon on Monday, Oct. 9. The menu includes beef burgers, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw and desserts. A free-will offering will be taken to support the Woodward Social Center.

Chicken Noodle Supper

5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9 at Bagley United Methodist Church.

Bagley United Methodist Church will be hosting a chicken noodle supper on Monday, Oct. 9. A free-will offering will be taken. Take-outs available.

Winter Coat Giveaway

9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at Adel First Christian Church.

The Dallas County Coat Giveaway will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14. New winter coats, hats and mittens in sizes infant through adult will be available to residents of Dallas County. St. John’s Knights of Columbus, Adel Rotary, Faith Lutheran Church, Adel Women’s Club, and Adel First Christian Church partner to supply the winter gear. The Clothes Closet will also be open, offering gently used clothing and shoes in all sizes. Everyone is welcome and everything is free.

Perry Public Safety Day

10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at Perry Hy-Vee parking lot.

Perry Hy-Vee will host the annual Public Safety Day on Saturday, Oct. 14. The free event will feature vehicles and equipment from the Perry Police and Fire Departments, Perry Public Works Department and Dallas County EMS. LifeFlight will make an appearance if they are available. Kids will get to experience the Blank Children's Hospital "Smoke House." This free event is a great time to get photos with the kids, so bring your camera.

Shred Event

10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at Perry Public Library south parking lot.

The Perry Public Library will host its annual Shred Event for the public on Saturday, Oct. 14. The shredder truck will be located in the library south parking lot, accessible from Railroad Street. This event is an opportunity for Perry area residents to dispose of outdated personal documents, free of charge, in a safe and secure way. The shred event is sponsored by the Perry Public Library and the city of Perry. Donations are accepted to help support this annual event. This is Adel will host a fall fashion show on Saturday, Oct. 14. The fashion show will feature five businesses featuring the trends for fall of 2023. ADM Gala

On Saturday, Oct. 14 the ADM Athletics Booster Club will host its first annual ADM Gala. This is a fun night for adults to raise money for all of the activities that are supported by the booster club. There will be an excellent meal, a variety of games and contests, live and silent auction and live music. This is a great event that will have a positive impact on our athletes and bring our community together! Individual tickets are available as well as tables of 10.

Smoked Pork Lion Supper

Woodward Christian Church will host a fundraiser for mission projects on Friday, Oct. 20. The menu will include smoked pork lion, cheesy potatoes, seasoned green beans, pie/assorted desserts and drink. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Dine in or carry out options will be available.

Halloween Hay Rack Ride

5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at Woodward Fire Station.

Gather your loved ones and join the Woodward Fire Department for a hayride through town to witness the spooktacular Halloween decorations. Afterward, warm up with soup, soup, hot dogs, hot chocolate, desserts and more inside. A free-will donation will be taken with proceeds going to purchase equipment for the Woodward Fire Department.

Swen-Tone Trio

2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 at Perry High School's Performing Arts Center.

The Perry Fine Arts Series will present Swen-Tone Trio on Sunday, Oct. 22. The Swen-Tone Trio will be playing your favorite rock, pop, and country from the 1960s and 70s. The Perry Fine Arts Committee invites area residents to join them for an afternoon of wonderful music on Oct. 22. Perry Fine Arts concerts are free (donations are accepted) and open to all. The Performing Arts Center is handicapped accessible.

Friends of the Library Crafting with Friends Fundraiser Event

8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Perry National Guard Armory, 2930 Willis Avenue, Perry.

Come and support the Perry Public Library at a fun and creative craft event on Saturday, Oct. 28. This event helps raise money for the Friends of the Library, who are a major source of financial support for the library's programs and services. All crafters are welcome – card makers, scrapbookers, yarn enthusiasts, quilters – whatever you can craft on a 6-foot table. Bring your friends for a get-away day filled with laughter and crafting. Your $40 registration fee includes a 6-foot table reservation, beverages, lunch, supper, snacks, desserts, door prizes, vendor access and 12 hours of crafting and fun.
