Things To Do In Austin This Weekend For Dec. 10-12

AUSTIN, TX — With sunshine projected this weekend for Austin, we can't help but think about all the things you can do in the metro area.

From holiday-themed festivals and events to exploring what's happening in downtown Austin, there's a plethora of things to do for families and young Austinites wanting to explore everything the Live Music Capital of the World has to offer.

Here's a list of things you can do this weekend in Austin from Dec. 10-12.

Watch "Elf" and "The Office: Christmas" at The Globe Drive-In

The Globe Drive-In locations will screen "Elf" at 5:30 p.m. Friday and "The Office: Christmas" at 6 p.m. Saturday. To purchase tickets, visit the Globe's website.

"Elf" Movie Party at Alamo Drafthouse

Saturday, Dec. 11 and Sunday, Dec. 12

Alamo Drafthouse will host an "Elf" movie party on Saturday and Sunday at participating Alamo locations. The movie party will include props and a chance to enjoy the theater's holiday-themed menu.

3rd Annual 12 Bars of Christmas Bar Crawl

The annual 12 Bars of Christmas Crawl in Austin is back and will kickoff from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11.

Eight Austin bars on 6th Street will be participating in this year's crawl. Those who attend, are invited to put on their best holiday onesies, Santa suits, ugly sweaters, and elf costumes.Tickets range from $12 to 16. To purchase your own, visit the event's site.

The 4th Annual Christmas Bar Crawl in Austin by CrawlWithUs

This Christmas bar crawl at Parlor and Yard, 601 W. 6th Street, will kick off the holidays from 4 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Dec. 11. Proceeds from the event will benefit Toys for Tots.

See "A Charlie Brown Christmas" at the Paramount

The Austin Chamber Music Center will host "A Charlie Brown Christmas" at the Paramount on Sunday, Dec. 12. Listen to the talented ensemble perform classic songs from the film, then head to the lobby to get pictures with Snoopy. Tickets start at $22.

Nightmare Before Christmas Gothic Ball & Bazaar at Elysium Austin

For the adults looking for a scary good holiday party, Elysium Austin will host a Nightmare Before Christmas Gothic Ball & Bazaar from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11.

The venue will feature sing-a-longs, shadow casters, a special drink menu, DJs and shopping for unique Texas items. Tickets are $17. To purchase tickets, go online.

Explore a Plant-based Holiday Market

The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show at the Paramount Theatre

The wildly successful, internationally acclaimed Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Show is back with its signature whip-smart comedy, brand new songs, and a few perennial favorites.

The show is slated for 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 at the Paramount Theatre in Austin. Tickets are $25 and are available online.

A Drag Queen Christmas

"A Drag Queen Christmas: The Naughty Tour" is a magical (and hilarious) evening of holiday performances featuring contestants from the reality television show, hosted by Trinity The Tuck and Monet X Change.

Scheduled acts include Alyssa Edwards, Heidi N Closet, Kylie Sonique Love, Shea Couleé, Brooke Lynn Hytes, and Crystal Methyd.

The ACL Live show will be at 8 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Moody Theater in Austin. Tickets start at $72 and are available online.

Events going on in Austin Metro all month-long

Austin's Trail of Lights

Stay warm in your car and cruise through light displays of every shape and size. Open nightly from Nov. 27 through Dec. 31 (except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day), with a few fun theme nights.

Peppermint Parkway

This drive-thru holiday event was launched last year as a way to celebrate safely during the coronavirus pandemic. Music and millions of holiday lights are featured on the mile-long route.

The Nutcracker Ballet by Ballet Austin

From the scrumptious sets and costumes to the colorful characters you adore, Ballet Austin's annual production of "The Nutcracker" is Austin's favorite holiday tradition.

The show will run at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4-5, Dec. 10-12, Dec. 17-19 and Dec. 21-23 at the Long Center, 701 W Riverside Drive, in Austin. Tickets start at $35 and are available online.

A Christmas Carol at Zach Theatre

The beloved Christmas play will continue through Sunday, Jan. 2 at The Topfer at ZACH on 202 South Lamar Street in Austin.

Tickets start at $25. Student Rush Tickets are $18 one hour before show time (with valid ID). A limited amount of Pay–What–You–Will tickets are available the day of for Mainstage preview performances only.

Pinkmas at Museum of Ice Cream

The Museum of Ice Cream will present "Pinkmas" starting Nov. 18 and will continue through Jan. 9 at its Domain location.

The magical immersive experience will feature festive drink specials at the cafe and a variety of celebratory activities. Tickets for the "Pinkmas" celebrations start at $44 and include holiday themed ice cream treats for guests to enjoy as they go through the experience.

Add on the special "Pinkmas" bundle for $39 to stock up on limited edition retail items like a headband, piñata plushie, MOIC ticket pin, and a sprinkle bag. Limited tickets are available online.
