ST. CLOUD — A Little Falls business will expand into St. Cloud with plans to open a location downtown in late May.

Baby's On Broadway is moving into 710 St. Germain St., the former home of Copper Pony before that business moved to Sauk Rapids.

Baby's On Broadway is a specialty baby boutique offering products for parents and children at all stages of pregnancy and through the early years of a child's life, including furniture, personal care items, toys, clothes, gear and more. The company also sells breast pumps covered by insurance.

"I really started because I love the journey of parenting — (of) motherhood," owner Adelle Starin said.

She said shoppers should expect different experiences at the different locations. According to St. Cloud manager Amy Serbus, the St. Cloud location puts an extra focus on mothers, including pre- and post-natal care, and will carry some different products and brands.

The St. Cloud location will also have gear for babies, car seats for all ages, high chairs, nursery chairs, strollers and other things. The Little Falls space is larger, and therefore showcases more furniture, and also has its own toy shop inside and other smaller items for babies. The two stores will share some employees, and the team may expand over time, Starin said.

Starin said she was a customer at Copper Pony, and when the business moved its store to Sauk Rapids, and their former location in downtown St. Cloud was the space she wanted.

"I could visualize the store there," she said.

She's also hoping that adding a location in St. Cloud will draw more customers from the area. Despite having a solid customer base from farther away — including the Twin Cities metro area, North Dakota, South Dakota and further north in Minnesota — the St. Cloud customer base hasn't followed suit.

"It was kind of a black hole for us," Starin said of the St. Cloud area.

Customers who visit the St. Cloud store can also utilize a digital kiosk that showcases items available at the Little Falls store, which they can order and pick up at the St. Cloud location later in the week if they'd prefer not to take the trip themselves.

The new store will be open Thursday through Sunday, with private appointments offered Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Serbus said. The store has a sitting area toward the back with mom-friendly, non-alcoholic drinks and an even more private area beyond a door in the back for these conversations. Serbus said these areas, as well as appointment options when the store doesn't have other customers, could allow customers to feel more comfortable discussing their body's needs as well as provide more personalized attention.

And that personalized attention is a big part of what Baby's On Broadway strives to offer its customers, Starin said. She said the team does extensive product research in an effort to take some of that burden off parents, and her goal is to educate parents so they can feel more peace of mind leaving the shop than when they came in.

"We definitely pride ourselves in credentialing ourselves and backing up our knowledge wherever possible," Starin said.

She also wants the store's offerings to be budget-conscious and accessible to everyone.

"We value every customer in the door," Stain said.
