Things to do in Bloomington: Zombie flick, Wonderlab star projector, PuzzleFest

Wondering what to do this weekend? There's plenty to ponder, from a film with mixed-up zombies at the Orbit Room to creating your own star projector at WonderLab. Or participate in the jigsaw competition at this year's PuzzleFest at Switchyard Park Pavilion while shopping or swapping puzzles. If getting outdoors is more your style, there's a night hike at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area near Lake Monroe.

'The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies' at Orbit Room Thursday

Check out the world's first monster musical at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Orbit Room, 107 N. College Ave., Suite 001. The 1964 movie "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies" starts with a trip to the carnival that goes from normal to strange when a man is transformed into a brainwashed killer. Tickets are $5 for the 18-plus show.

Test your night vision on a hike at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area on Friday

Get outside and test out your night vision on a hike at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area that will be 7-9 p.m. Friday. Meet at the rec area's entrance gate on the south side of Lake Monroe, 6454 Hardin Ridge Road, Heltonville.

The 2-mile hike will be on a paved surface, but could be covered in snow, so come dressed for the weather and wear your warm boots. Also, bring a flashlight with a red light setting if you have one. Participants will explore the night’s sights and sounds and gaze upon the stars if the sky is clear.

Screening of 'Angst' on Saturday raises awareness about anxiety

“Angst,” a film for all ages designed to raise awareness about anxiety, will be shown at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brown County Playhouse, at 70 S. Van Buren St. The free event is presented with Nashville United Methodist Church.

“Angst” aims to remove the stigma and open up the conversation about mental health, helping youth and their families understand that some anxiety is healthy, how to recognize symptoms and encourage people to reach out for help as needed.

Create a star projector at WonderLab's workshop on Saturday

WonderLab's winter maker workshop, Cosmic Creations — Build Your Own Star Projector, will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the museum, at 308 W. Fourth St. The workshop is for ages 8 and older.

Participants will make their own star projectors that will display images of real constellations. In addition to creating a set of constellation cards and testing your projector, people can observe constellations in a pop-up planetarium.

Ticket prices include museum admission and project materials and are $6 for members, $20 for nonmembers and $5 with an access pass. For tickets, go to http://tinyurl.com/f58hf475.
