Chris Isaak in Canton for Friday show

Chris Isaak, a singer-songwriter who broke through commercially with the radio hit "Wicked Game," will perform Friday night at the Canton Palace Theatre.

Tickets were still available for the concert earlier this week, said Georgia Paxos, the Palace's executive director.

Starting at $44.50, tickets can be purchased at https://cantonpalacetheatre.org/ and at www.ticketmaster.com/, and by calling the venue at 330-454-8172.

Doors open one hour before the 8 p.m. show.

Isaak is also scheduled to perform at MGM Northfield Park on Wednesday with Lyle Lovett and his Large Band.

Isaak is a Grammy-nominated and platinum-selling musical artist with nine albums to his credit. He's also appeared in movies, including "The Silence of the Lambs" and "That Thing You Do!," as well as in episodes of the "Twin Peaks" television series.

Opening will be The Shootouts, a Northeast-Ohio band known for its modern version of honkytonk and vintage country with touches of Western swing. Frontman Ryan Humbert is a North Canton resident.

The Shootouts have been performing regularly both inside and outside Ohio this summer.

After releasing its acclaimed 2019 debut album "Quick Draw," The Shootouts charted on Americana radio and in 2020 were nominated for an Ameripolitan Music Award for “Best Honky-Tonk Group.”

A Prince tribute concert is set for Saturday night at the Jackson Amphitheatre.

Expect to hear classic tracks such as "Let's Go Crazy," "When Doves Cry," "Kiss," "1999" and "Little Red Corvette."

The Prince Project Band also will play hit songs from the late icon's other records.

Friday and Saturday's shows are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday is 2:30 p.m. The theater is at 525 7th St. NE in North Canton.

North Canton Playhouse summed up the plot: "The stakes are higher than ever in this dynamic stage musical, as SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom face the total annihilation of their undersea world!"

Grecian Festival in Canton serves up authentic dishes

Tasty Greek food will be served this weekend at the 45th annual Grecian Festival at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

Music and a Greek dance troupe also will be part of the event. The festival dates to 1976 at Holy Trinity, which is hosting the event on church grounds at 4705 Fairhaven Ave. NW.

Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

An extensive menu of homemade food includes gyros, lamb shank, souvlaki and a variety of Greek pastries.

The menu is packed with Greek classics, including pastitsio, a baked pasta dish with ground meat and béchamel sauce, and saganaki, a pan-seared kefalotyri cheese.
