Things to do in Columbia: Hopefest at The Factory, Viva NashVegas, movies in the park

If you aren't one of the many thousands attending CMA Fest this weekend, take part in the many great entertainment opportunities happening in Columbia, with live music, murder mysteries and more.

1. Hopefest at The Factory

The first Hopefest will take place from 4-9 p.m. Saturday, June 11 at The Factory at Columbia, featuring a free gospel concert, food vendors and more.

The Factory at Columbia, 100 N. James M. Campbell Blvd., will host its first Hopefest from 4-9 p.m. Saturday.

The festival, which will feature free live music, multiple vendors and more, will be a fun-filled night benefiting Columbia's own Room in the Inn at Westminster Presbyterian  Church, which has helped more than 1,000 homeless and families in need over the past six years.

2. Father's Day gift making at The Factory

Make a special gift for Dad this weekend at The Factory, who will host a special Father's Day gift making event throughout the weekend and next week.

The Factory also encourages citizens to get the jump on the upcoming Father's Day holiday later this month by taking part in a special gift-making event over the next week.

The Father's Day Gift Workshop will take place from 1-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, as well as next Wednesday-Saturday. Participants will be able to make their own special engraved Father's Day gift, including leather wallet clips, cork coasters, key chains, bottle openers and more.

Registration is not required to participate.

3. Viva NashVegas! 10th Anniversary Spectacular

The Viva NashVegas Radio Show celebrates eight years of broadcasting around the world with its first ever ‘real radio’ broadcast Saturday, May 30, 2020 from the WKRM/WKOM studio in Columbia, Tennessee.

It's crazy how fast 10 years can fly by, which usually means there's fun being had and much more.

Viva NashVegas, the monthly radio variety show hosted by Grand Ole Opry alum George Hamilton V, will celebrate a decade of bringing entertainment, fun and insight of the southern regional music scene this weekend.

The show will broadcast from the Pryor Art Gallery at Columbia State Community College from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m.

In addition to celebrating 10 years of great guests, comedic skits and legendary musicians, Saturday's show will feature a photographic exhibit by legendary photographer Jimmy Moore.

4. Movies in the Park: 'Encanto'

Maury County Parks and Recreation will host its annual Movies in The Park at Maury County Park this Saturday, featuring "Encanto" starting at 7 p.m.

Maury County Parks and Recreation invites families for a fun night at the park this Saturday.

The annual Movies In The Park kicks off starting at 7 p.m. Saturday at Maury County Park, 1018 Maury County Park Drive.

The feature film will be "Encanto" and is free to attend.

Be sure to bring blankets, lawn chairs and plenty of bug spray. The film will be screened at the Bridle & Saddle Club Pavilion.

There will also be pre-movie activities, food trucks and a whole lot more to enjoy.

Attendees are also encouraged to leave their pets at home.

Movies In The Park will continue throughout the summer and fall, with "Spider-Man: No Way Home on July 23, Moana on Aug. 13 and Hocus Pocus on Oct. 22.

5. Live entertainment

The Read Southall Band will perform at The Mulehouse, 812 S. High St., starting at 7 p.m. Friday. Tickets are available at www.TheMulehouse.com.

Austin Tyler Jones will perform at Asgard Brewing Co. & Taproom, 104 E. 5th St., starting at 6 p.m. Friday.

Parkway South will perform at Vintage Winery, 616 N. Main St., starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The Z-Man will perform at Bad Idea Brewing, 307 W. 11th ST. in the Columbia Arts Building, starting at 6 p.m. Friday.

Bald Kernal will perform at Tuck's Place, 102 Depot St., starting at 9 p.m. Friday.

Rob Boardman and Samantha Kate will perform at DB's, 1144 Riverside Drive, starting at 5 p.m. Friday.

Arbor North will perform at Puckett's in downtown Columbia starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Classic Vinyl will perform at Vintage Winery starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mercury Red will host its "This is War" album release at DB's starting at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Sun Bodies will perform at Bad Idea Brewing starting at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Cocked and Loaded will perform at The Rebel Bar and Grill, 307 Riverside Drive, starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
