Things to do in El Paso this week include BeerFest, Día de los Niños, and Celtic Woman

El Pasoans are venturing out to enjoy concerts, farmers' markets, and art shows as the coronavirus pandemic eases.

Here's what's happening this week if you're looking for a fun night out in El Paso County.

Friday

UTEP Dinner Theatre: The theater will present dinner performances of the classic Stephen Sondheim musical, Into the Woods, at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Wednesday, Thursday, May 6-7. (*Discount Dinner Performance); No-dinner matinee performances at 2:30 p.m. May 1 and 8. Friday and Saturday Dinner Performances cost $53.50 for adults, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday matinee dinner performances cost $48.50 for adults and $32.50 for no dinner matinees. Discounts for seniors, military and students. Tickets available at the UTEP Ticket Center and via Ticketmaster.com.

Saturday

Borderland BeerFest: The free event begins at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at DeadBeach Brewery, 406 Durango St. Dozens of regional and local breweries will their signature beers alongside food trucks on the street outside the brewery. Live music stage, DJ stages, artisan vendors and live artists.

Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros: The popular children's festival, which provides thousands of free books, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park. Free swimming from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Memorial Park Aquatics Facility, 3251 Copper Ave. There will also be food trucks on-site selling a variety of food and beverages.

Alamo Drafthouse: Five family-friendly films will be shown, starting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema East El Paso, 12351 Pellicano Drive. The films are in Spanish with English subtitles. Guests can reserve their seats by buying a $5 food and beverage voucher at drafthouse.com/el-paso/show/mexican-consulate-presents-dia-del-nino. These vouchers can be redeemed for anything on the Alamo Drafthouse’s menu during the screening. Free tickets can also be picked up at the box office at any time in advance of the show.

Downtown Farmers Market: The El Paso Downtown Artist and Farmers Market, featuring handmade arts and crafts and regional agricultural products, is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at 117 Anthony St.

Celtic Woman Celebration: The internationally popular group has a new El Paso date for its Postcards from Ireland show, 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Plaza Theatre. Tickets, ranging from $35 to $150, plus fees, are available at https://www.ticketmaster.com/

K9 Classic: The Humane Society of El Paso will host the 33rd Annual K9 Classic Sunday at Ascarate Park. Online registration is $35, $15 for children (ages 6 to 15), $25 for seniors 65 years and older. Family registrations (two adults, two children) are $65. Event day registration begins at 8 a.m.; Opening Ceremonies begin at 8:30 a.m. and the walk at 9 a.m. Registration day of the event will increase an additional $10. Scenic Sunday: Scenic Drive shuts down to traffic from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Sunday so walkers, runners, cyclists and skaters can enjoy a traffic-free adventure. Free. More information: elpasotexas.gov.

Monday

Karaoke Night: Speaking Rock Entertainment Center, 122 S. Old Pueblo Road, is hosting karaoke nights from 7 to 10 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays with a chance to win prizes. For people ages 21 and older.

Tuesday

Homeshake: The band will perform in support of its fifth studio album, 'Under The Weather' Tuesday at Lowbrow Palace, 1006 Texas Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m. Cost: $20-$22. www.lowbrowpalace.com

Wednesday

Wine Down Wednesday: The Outlet Shoppes at El Paso will have Wine Down Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. at El Paso Food Court. Shoppers also can register for a chance to win prizes.

Thursday

“Bach’s Lunch”: The free concert will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the El Paso Museum of Art, 1 Arts Festival Plaza.

Reik: The Mexican pop-rock band Reik will include El Paso in its En Cambio USA Tour at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Plaza Theatre. Tickets, ranging from 49 to $149, plus fees, are available at Ticketmaster.com
