Elvis impersonator ready to rock Palace Theatre

Elvis tribute artist Mike Albert will perform a "Rockin' Blue Christmas" show on Saturday night at the Canton Palace Theatre, 605 Market Ave. N, Canton.

Tickets are $33 plus a service charge and available online at www.cantonpalacetheatre.org or at the Palace Theatre box office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and by calling 330-454-8172.

Doors open one hour before the 7:30 p.m. show.

Albert, a longtime Elvis impersonator, will perform Presley's classic songs.

'It's a Wonderful Life' at St. Thomas Aquinas

St. Thomas Aquinas high school and middle school will present "It's a Wonderful Life − A Live Radio Play" this weekend.

Friday and Saturday shows are at 7 p.m. in the St. Thomas Aquinas school chapel. Sunday's performance is 3 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at https://stafallplay.ludus.com/index.php or at the door. Preshow entertainment begins 15 minutes before showtime.

The play is directed by Criseyda Dowd, the Stark County Catholic Schools director of the arts.

The play is set on Christmas Eve in 1946 on the stage and in the auditorium of Studio A at WBFR radio station in Manhattan. The play will recreate a live radio broadcast, including a preshow performance, Christmas carols and commercials.

"I am so excited to be working on this heartwarming version of such a beloved film," Dowd said in a news release.

Canton Symphony show features violinist

The Canton Symphony Orchestra Masterworks concert "Pictures at an Exhibition" is 7 p.m. Sunday at Umstattd Hall, 2331 17th St. NW, Canton.

The show features violinist Rachel Barton Pine, who will play Jean Sibelius' Violin Concerto in D minor, O. 47.

Pine performs with the world’s leading orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, and the orchestras of Chicago, Vienna, and Detroit.

The second half of the performance features "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Modest Mussorgsky. This work, originally based on pictures by artist Viktor Hartmann, will include new visuals in collaboration with the Canton Museum of Art and the Massillon Museum.

Before the performance, the symphony orchestra's artist in residence, Ashley Palmer, will host a meet and greet featuring a live painting demonstration at 6:30 p.m.

The Paris Accord, featuring singer songwriter Scott Paris, will perform on Saturday night at The Auricle in downtown Canton.

Earlier this year, Paris released his latest EP, "Nowhere to Go but Nowhere" under the name of The Paris Accord. Standout tracks include "Bring the Car Around" and "Wishing Well."

Paris recently released the new single, "Always Waiting," available on Apple Music and other streaming platforms.

Paris recorded the EP's songs as a one-man band, playing all instruments and handling vocals in the genre of alternative pop rock. Paris, however, will be performing with a band at The Auricle.

A full-time, working musician for 15 years, the Stark County native toured nationally with Broken Transmitter before the group disbanded. He's currently the bassist for popular area band Hey Monea.

Also performing Saturday night are Twin Atomic and BORS. Tickets are $13 at the door and $8 in advance when purchased online at https://www.ticketweb.com/ by searching for the venue.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 8 p.m. The Auricle is at 201 Cleveland Ave.

'Motown Christmas' show on Thursday at Palace Theatre

A "Motown Christmas" vocal group will perform Thursday night at the Canton Palace Theatre, 605 Market Ave. N, Canton, featuring past and present members of The Temptations, The Miracles and The Contours.

A "Motown Christmas" is a family-oriented show combining Motown’s greatest hits with holiday classics.

'The American Soldier' for free at KSU Tuscarawas

A free performance of the one-man play "The American Soldier" will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas, 330 University Drive NE, New Philadelphia.

Experienced stage, film and television actor Douglas Taurel performs the show, which is based on real stories and factual accounts from actual soldier and family member letters written from the American Revolution through current day Afghanistan.

The show has been nominated for the Amnesty International Award and performed at the Kennedy Center in 2016 and 2019 and Off Broadway.
