All things fall: some fun fall activities for tourists and residents alike

From an Amish fall celebration, to apple and pumpkin picking, corn mazes, and enjoying pumpkin ice cream or apple crisp, The Daily Record has you covered when you are ready to don the flannel and celebrate the changing of the seasons. We've also found a few walking trails and a 5K Fun Run where you can get outside and enjoy the changing of the leaves.

Of the multitude of outdoor activities and places to visit in the area as the fall season swings into bloom, here are a half dozen things to see and do in the areas of Wayne and Holmes counties this fall that are sure to satisfy both visitors and locals alike.

Lehman's Hardware

Lehman's Hardware, which was voted the best destination in Amish Country by the 2022 Traveler's Choice Trip Advisor, will be celebrating the the great outdoors on Saturday, Oct. 7.

The second annual Outdoor Expo at Lehman's Hardware's located 4779 Kidron Rd. in Kidron, will include demonstrations, vendors, children's games and activities and classes.

Visitors are invited to enjoy demonstrations by some of the many vendors, including Paul Weaver, the artist behind the beautiful wood carvings in the Lehman's buggy barn. Also on the agenda is a maple syrup class from 2 to 4 p.m. There will also be a variety of activities and outdoor games for kids.

Enjoy kettle corn on the west side porch and live music by Honeytown.

Apple picking

Bauman Orchards has been a grower and seller of fine fresh produce such as apples, peaches, plums and sweet corn, since 1929 in Rittman. Over the years the company has grown from 18 acres to its current size of more than 260 acres, with a total of 100,000 apple trees, featuring 25 varieties of apples.

The cider presses run from September through May making fresh cider.

The Scenic Ridge location in Jeromesville boasts more than 84 acres of fruit trees in addition to strawberries, grapes, and sweet corn.

Ramseyer's Farm

Pumpkins and corn maze are among the fun things to see and do at Ramseyer's Farm, 4000 Ramseyer Lane in Wooster.

Pre-purchased tickets are now required to visit Ramseyer Farms on Saturdays and Sundays. If tickets are sold out online and you do not already have tickets for that day, please choose another day to visit the farm. Planning ahead is in your best interest. Purchasing tickets at least a few days in advance is best to guarantee admission before tickets sell out. Tickets will remain available online until sold out.

Lincoln Way Vineyards

Lincoln Way Vineyards at 9050 West Old Lincoln Way are hosting a Haunted Wine Run 5K on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 9 a.m. Register at: https://runsignup.com/Race/Register/?raceId=145813&eventId=714476.

Lincoln Way Vineyards also features live music in the afternoon (Carson Clouse) and the evening (O'Mulligans) on Saturday, Oct. 7.

The Yummy Pita Food Truck will be serving all day as well.

Inn at Honey Run

The Inn at Honey Run, located at 6920 County Road 203, Millersburg, offers all the all of the amenities of major hotels and conference centers, while providing a personal touch that makes guests feel as though they are part of the family.

The Inn features a dedicated event planner as well as an executive chef who personally harvested the honey on the charcuterie board of meats, cheeses, sauces and dips.

"The temperature has been dropping to the low 50s here at The Inn, and while I am not fully ready for summer to end, I am excited about the arrival of fall," said Jason Nies, owner of Inn at Honey Run. "Fall is a magical time at The Inn. Many folks flock from the city to see this color display of nature and enjoy the natural beauty of this complicated dance of death to rebirth."

There are seven scenic walking trails on the grounds that provide incredible views of the picturesque countryside.

A stop at the ice cream parlor is often a special trip reserved for the summer. But the folks at Miller's Creamery in Millersburg offer some flavorful fall treats that will lead to making the trip there more than a summer fling.

Among the special fall themed treats are a variety of pumpkin flavored items, such as pumpkin pie, pumpkin pie cheese cake, frozen pumpkin latte, a pumpkin shake and pumpkin cheesecake nachos.

Another fall special is Apple Crisp, a warm, homemade delicacy served with vanilla soft serve and caramel.
