The weekend is finally upon us, as well as a new month that's sure to bring warmer weather and lots of fun activities to enjoy around Columbia.

1. First Fridays

We've finally hit March, which means the weekend starts with another festive First Fridays downtown.

As per usual, the main bulk of First Fridays events will take place from 5-8 p.m., featuring live music along the square, food trucks and many great opportunities to shop at local businesses.

Chief Smiley Ricks & The C-Town Specials will perform at Daniel's Barber Shop on the square starting at 7 p.m.

Catch some R&B while dining on a Nashville classic at Big Shake's Hot Chicken, 822 S. Main St., who will host R&B Night starting at 6 p.m.

Just up the road at Little Neighbors, 802 S. Main St., bring the kids for a special arts and crafts project from 4-8 p.m., including confetti bookmarks and an applique tote bag. Prices range from $8-12.

2. Riverside Antiques After Dark

Pay a visit to one of Columbia's newest businesses looking to make its mark in the weekend nightlife game.

Riverside Antiques, 901 Riverside Drive, will host Riverside Antiques After Dark from 5-8 p.m. Friday.

Enjoy an evening of live music provided by Brennan White, enjoy hors d'oeuvres catered by OneOneTwo Events and discover one of the Riverside community's new businesses.

Also, the event is BYOB.

3. Rebel Regale Dinner Show

Enjoy a gourmet dinner and a show at The Rebel Bar & Grill, who will host its Rebel Regale Dinner Show on Saturday.

The Rebel Bar $ Grill, 307 Riverside Drive, will host a special night of good food, live music and more with its Rebel Regale Dinner Show.

The event will take place starting at 6 p.m. Saturday and will include a gourmet menu featuring homemade lasagna, Tuscan chicken and mashed potatoes. There will also be an assortment of appetizers, desserts and a full cocktail bar.

Live entertainment will be provided by Johnathan Len, who will perform on the outdoor Tiki Stage following dinner.

4. Dr. Seuss Birthday Party at aMuse'um

aMuse'um Children's Museum will celebrate Dr Seuss' Birthday Party from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, featuring Seuss-themed activities, snacks and more.

Celebrate the life and legacy of one of the world's most popular children's authors at aMuse'um this Friday.

The children's museum, located just off the square on West 7th Street, will host a Dr. Seuss Birthday Party between 10 a.m. and noon Friday.

Admission is free to aMuse'um members and included with a season pass.

Activities will include Green Eggs and Ham-themed crafts, sensory bins, snacks and more.

5. Live entertainment

The Velvet Troubadours will perform at The Tilted Mule, 102 Depot St., starting at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Amylase Band will perform at The Boondox, 3543 Highway 431, starting at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Velvet Dogs will perform at Fozzy's Bar & Grill, 150 Stephen P. Yokich Parkway in Spring Hill, starting at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Jay Rin will perform at Twisted Copper Brewing Co., 107 S. Main St. in Mt. Pleasant, starting at 7 p.m. Saturday.
