Things to do: First Fridays, Robin Hood, Daddy Daughter dances and ice cream for breakfast

Step out of the house this weekend for 2024's second First Fridays downtown, take a trip to Nottingham with Watershed Public Theatre, dance at the Memorial Building and more.

1. First Fridays in February

Now that the recent cold spell has passed, it's time to get out and visit downtown Columbia for First Fridays in February.

As always, shops will stay open late, music will ring throughout the streets and food trucks will be posted up for a night of fun.

Baxter's Mercantile, 808 S. Garden St., will also be celebrating its four-year anniversary from 5-8 p.m., which will include refreshments, food samples, door prizes and new merchandise to browse.

Also, don't forget to make your way down West 6th Street for Maury Alliance's monthly Strollin' on the 6th block party, which will feature even more music, food and vendors to shop.

First Fridays will also be a good opportunity to perhaps do a little pre-Valentine's Day shopping while also supporting local small businesses.

2. 'Robin Hood and Friends' by Watershed

Spend an evening with Robin Hood and his merry men as Watershed Public Theatre premieres its latest performance.

Watershed will present "Robin Hood and Friends" with two performances this weekend starting at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, as well as a 3 p.m. matinee Saturday and Sunday.

The classic story is a new adaptation written by Beverly Mitchell which takes audiences through the adventures of Robin Hood to save Maid Marion from the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.

The play will be performed at Columbia State Community College's Cherry Theater, 1665 Hampshire Pike.

Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for seniors and $10 for students and children.

3. aMuse'um Daddy Daughter Dance

aMuse'um Children's Museum will host its annual Daddy Daughter Dance this Saturday at The Memorial Building.

Celebrate Valentine's Day early by making a special night for daughter's at aMuse'um's Daddy Daughter Dance at The Memorial Building.

Presented by Best Cleaners and New Brand Cleaners, the event will take place starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at The Memorial Building, 308 W. 7th St.

4. Ice Cream for Breakfast Day at Hattie Jane's

Wrap up the weekend with a few scoops of gourmet ice cream for breakfast, or brunch if you feel like sleeping in.

Hattie Jane's Creamery, located inside Puckett's in downtown Columbia, will be celebrating Eat Ice Cream For Breakfast Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Customers who show up in their jammies will also receive 15% off of their order, some come comfy and ready to indulge that sweet tooth as the weekend comes to a close.

5. Live entertainment

The Close will perform at Puckett's in downtown Columbia starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Yonder Grove will perform at Asgard Brewing Co. & Taproom, 104 E. 5th St., starting at 7 p.m. Friday.

Stephanie Adlington will perform at Farmstead Roots Market & Cellar, 802 S. Main St., starting at 6 p.m. Friday.

Nick Bentley will perform at Grinder's Switch Winery, 510 N. Garden St., starting at 6 p.m. Friday.

Tom Saffell & Robert Johnson will perform at McCreary's Irish Pub & Eatery, 814 S. Main St., starting at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Trujillo will perform at The Tilted Mule, 102 Depot St., starting at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Wentzel Brothers Band will perform at Fozzy's Bar & Grill, 150 Stephen P. Yokich Parkway in Spring Hill, starting at 8 p.m. Saturday.
