This weekend includes opportunities to sample local food trucks, live entertainment, shopping for comic books and other nostalgic finds and taking in a healthy yoga class at an historical location.

1. aMuse'um 10th annual Food Truck Festival

Spend your Saturday gorging on tasty eats, while enjoying a night of live music, football and raising money for a popular local children's nonprofit.

aMuse'um Children's Museum will host its 10th annual Food Truck Festival, which will run from 6-9 p.m. Saturday.

This year's event will feature 12 food trucks, a lineup of great live music, craft beers, ciders and seltzers, as well as this weekend's University of Tennessee Volunteers football game broadcast live on the big screen.

Tickets are $40 and are available at www.aMuseumColumbia.com.

All proceeds will benefit aMuse'um, and serves as the nonprofit's largest annual fundraiser. Moneys generated from the Food Truck Festival will help fund the children's museum's annual operating costs, employee salaries and to help host upcoming fall and winter events.

2. Columbia Comic Book & Toy Expo

Comic book collectors, nostalgic toy traders and horror/sci-fi fans will want to drop by the National Guard Armory, 844 S. James M. Campbell Blvd., for an all-out geek-out session.

Columbia's annual Comic Book & Toy Expo will once again take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, featuring 40+ vendors selling and trading vintage toys, posters, original art, as well as a plethora of comic books to add to your collection.

Admission is only $5 and parking is free.

Featured Vendors this year, which can be viewed on the Columbia Comic Book & Toy Expo Facebook page, include items from Wizards Comics & Posters, Towne Square Records & Comics, Corbin Delaney Illustration (who designed the event's limited edition poster, also for sale), Atomic Comics, as well as local Columbia sketch artist Ricky Blalock (his stuff is really good).

3. Recovery Fest at Riverwalk

Celebrate and break the stigma of recovery and mental illness with a free, family-friendly event at Riverwalk Park this Saturday.

The Maury County Prevention Coalition will present its annual Recovery Fest from 2-6 p.m. Saturday.

Activities will include live music, games, prize giveaways, as well as inflatables and food.

There will also be speakers throughout the event, bringing attention to Columbia and Maury County's continued efforts to offer recovery resources to locals.

Recovery Fest is also sponsored by Fresh Start Recovery Church, which meets at Saint Luke United Methodist Church, 606 Santa Fe Pike, starting at 6 p.m. every Friday. Fresh Start also offers a free meal on the first Friday of every month prior to the service at 5:30 p.m.

4. Yoga in the Garden at Polk Home

Yoga can be a fun, relaxing way to get an intensive workout, especially when you can join others in a unique, historical locale.

The James K. Polk Home & Museum is partnering with The Movement Lab to launch a new weekly series which combines the centuries-old artform of yoga to what many consider one of Columbia's most historic, not to mention scenic, sites.

Yoga in The Garden will take place starting at 8 a.m. Saturday inside the Polk Home's garden, and will reoccur every week through Oct. 22.

Spaces are limited however, and can be reserved at www.EventBrite.com for $15 per person.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat and arrive a few minutes early to set up.

In the event of inclement weather, classes will be canceled and tickets refunded. For more information and class updates, visit www.JamesKPolk.com.
