Kite Days at Asian Cultures Museum

The Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures and Education Center presents Kite Days 2022 classes at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30, at 1809 N. Chaparral St. Come learn the history of kites in Asian cultures, the materials used to make them and then build your very own kite. Reservations for class encouraged (class limited to 12 participants each time). Museum open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Splash Memorial Weekend at city pools

The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Dept. presents Splash Memorial Weekend Saturday, May 28 through Monday, May 30. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. at Corpus Christi Natatorium, 3202 Cabaniss Pkwy.; and 2-7:30 p.m. at Collier Pool, 3801 Harris Drive; Greenwood Pool, 4305 Greenwood Drive; HEB Pool, 1520 Shely Street; West Guth Pool, 9705 Up River Road; and Oso Pool, 1109 Bernice Drive. Each pool offers a unique experience. The city splash pads are also open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays and on Memorial Day, May 30, at Lindale Park, 3133 Swantner Drive; Salinas Park, 1354 Airport Road; and Bill Witt Park, 6869 Yorktown Blvd. Cost: Free. Coastal A’s and Rods Car Club annual car show

Coastal A’s and Rods Car Club presents its 29th annual car show and fun run on Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy Nostalgia Nite from at 6 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Snapka’s Drive Inn, 4760 Leopard Street. The car show is all day Saturday, May 28 (registration from 8 a.m. to noon) and 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 29, at The Atrium hotel, 5549 Leopard St. Featuring classic cars and trucks in a family-friendly environment, plus food, drinks, T-shirts and local vendors. Coastal A’s and Rods Car Club dedicate the annual show to raising fund for local charities. Cost: Free to view, items available for purchase; $35 entry fee to show a classic car or truck. Harbor Playhouse presents ‘Moana Jr.’

Harbor Playhouse presents “Moana Jr.” at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. Sundays through June 19, at 1802 N. Chaparral St. In this 60-minute adaptation of the hit Disney musical, join the thrilling and heartwarming coming-of-age story where the strong-willed Moana sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History

Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays at 1900 N. Chaparral St. Visit this 90,000 square-foot facility that is the repository for hundreds of thousands of artifacts and historically significant items while learning about science and history through exhibits and programming to inspire curiosity, understanding and an enduring thirst for knowledge. Texas State Aquarium

The Texas State Aquarium is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays at 2710 N. Shoreline Blvd. Visitors of all ages and can get up close and interact with many different kinds of animals, enjoy educational and entertaining exhibits featuring more than 300 species, learn about conservation and how our actions impact the other inhabitants of both the ocean and land, and thrill at exciting presentations featuring bottlenose dolphins, raptors and other kinds of birds, and an assortment of fascinating mammals. USS Lexington Museum on the Bay

The USS Lexington Museum on the Bay is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at 2914 N. Shoreline Blvd. Tour the longest serving Essex Class aircraft carrier of World War II. The 16-deck "Blue Ghost" displays military artifacts and more than 20 aircraft, take one of five tour routes, visit the 3D Mega Theater, flight simulator and more. South Texas Botanical Gardens

The South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at 8545 S. Staples St. Tour the 182-acre showcase on Oso Creek or stop by one of the specialty gardens or the screened Butterfly House, Anderson Bromeliad or Samuel Jones Orchid Conservatory. And don't forget to visit the resident reptiles and parrots. Masks are required for all indoor spaces (including for vaccinated individuals). Cost: $9 for adults (13-59 years old); $7 adults 60 and older, active military and college students; $5 children (3-12 years old); and free for members and children under 3 years. Free admission at Art Museum of South Texas

The Art Museum of South Texas is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. Sundays at 1902 N. Shoreline Blvd. See multiple exhibitions during your visit, including never before seen works from the permanent collection. Social distancing and masks are encouraged. Collier Pool, Natatorium open for lap and general swim

Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department's Collier Pool, 3801 Harris Drive and Corpus Christi Natatorium, 3202 Cabaniss Pkwy., are open for lap and general swim for the spring 2022 season. Collier general swim hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Lap swim hours are 5–7:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Natatorium general swim hours are 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Lap swim hours are 5-6:30 a.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cost: Free.
