Things to know, athletes to watch at girls track sectional on Tuesday at Bloomington North

Here's what you need to know and the top athletes to watch at Tuesday's Bloomington North girls' track sectional:

The A-B-C's

Schedule: The sectional will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the field events, with the 3,200 relay at 5:45 and running trials for the 100, 200 and 100 hurdles at 6. Finals begin at 6:45.

Advancement: The top three in each event, and those who meet the state standards, automatically advance to regional. The regional field will be filled with the next four best times/distances from all of the four sectionals that feed into next week's Bloomington North Regional.

Participating teams: Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Edgewood, Eastern Greene, Lighthouse Christian, Bloomfield, Brown County, Linton, Martinsville, Owen Valley, Shakamak, White River Valley. North is the two-time defending team champ. The local sectional has been won by either North or South every year since 1999.

State standards: 100 (12.33); 200 (25.09); 400 (57.94); 800 (2:15.40); 1,600 (5:02.36); 3.200 (10:53.59); 100 hurdles (15.08); 300 hurdles (45.44); High jump (5-4); Long jump (17-8¾); Shot put (40-9¼); Discus (127-0); Pole vault (11-6); 400 relay (48.62); 1,600 relay (3:58.43); 3,200 relay (9:27.62).

Athletes to watch

DeDe Eberle, Bloomington North

First-year track athlete seeded in top four in 100 and 300 hurdles and long jump.

Sophie Hale, Linton

Sophomore will be one of the top hurdlers and long jumpers in the field. Was a state qualifier in the 100s last year.

Ella Hayden, Edgewood

Junior a No. 2 seed in the long jump after setting school record and will be a factor in the sprints and the 400 relay which is just .35 off school mark.

Kyla Kante, Bloomington North

IUPUI-bound Senior seeded first in 100 hurdles and listed as alternate for 300s, so she could be fresh to help 400 and 1,600 relays.

Hadley Lucas, Bloomington North

Sophomore is the best thrower in the state by a long shot, and a long discus.

Lily Myers, Bloomington South

Key anchor for Panthers' 3,200 relay and will be the clear favorite in the 3,200.

Hanna and Holli Reuter, Martinsville

Twins will score a lot of points for Artesians. Hanna is top seed in the 400 and No. 3 in the 100. Hanna and Holli are seeded 1-5 in long jump and both are on second seeded 1,600 relay.

Anna Tieman, Eastern Greene

She's fast. T-Bird senior ranked No. 1 in the 200, No. 2 in the 100, flipping spots with Shakamak's Jaci Stone. Tieman also No. 3 seed in long jump and anchors 1,600 relay.

Becca Robbins, Linton

Freshman having an impressive season in the throws, comes in seeded No. 2 in discus and No. 3 in shot.
