Music, art and food in downtown Minerva on Saturday

The 10th annual Brick Street Art & Jazz Festival is Saturday in Minerva.

The event on North Market Street features music, food, fine crafts and interactive arts activities for all ages. The free event is scheduled regardless of weather conditions.

Bands include Henrique Alvim playing Brazilian jazz guitar at 12:30 p.m.; Erbo & the Buzz Factor playing jazz with steel drums at 3 p.m.; and the Alliance Symphony Orchestra Big Band from 5 to 7 p.m.

Saxophonist Denny Ott will be performing at 10 a.m. before the festival officially opens.

High school jazz bands performing during the day include 11:45 a.m., the Stage Dawgs at STEAMM Academy; 1:45 and 2:15 p.m., the Northwest High School Rock and Jazz bands; 4:15 p.m., Minerva High School’s Jazz Band.

Other activities will include from noon to 2 p.m., strolling magic by Tim Angeloni; 2 to 4 p.m., balloon creations by Joe Delagrange; 4 to 6 p.m., origami by Michael Roy’s Cirque du Papier; 1 and 4 p.m., drum circles. Various art displays and demonstrations will be happening during the event.

Angel Auction in Canton for Women's Board of Aultman Hospital

The annual Angel Auction is Saturday at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

The "Charms of Charleston" event is presented by the Women's Board of Aultman Hospital.

Founded in 1969, the Women’s Board has raised more than $28 million to support major projects at Aultman Hospital since the organization's inception. The group is committed to raising $4.2 million over the next five years in support of two large projects, including a main hospital lobby renovation.

Champagne, hors d’oeuvres and drinks begin at 5:30 p.m. The Southern-inspired dinner and live auction are at 7 p.m., followed by live entertainment, with the band LDNL. Specialty wines will be served.

A $5,000 cash raffle is planned. A wine basket and Gucci Marmont leather bag also will be part of the auction.

'Super Scott's' artwork at Cyrus Framing in Canton

Inspired by Picasso, Van Gogh and Gauguin, artist Scott Simler uses simple brush strokes to create intricately painted scenes of joy and fun.

Simler has emerged as a leading artist in the Canton Arts District, working out of the Just Imagine Gift Gallery, a unique arts program that empowers adult artists with developmental disabilities to discover their creative side.

The event is presented by Just Imagine, The Workshops Inc. and Cyrus Custom Framing & Art Gallery.

Simler's art show has been made possible with a grant from the Ohio Arts Council.

Spotlight Entertainment will present a "Golden Girls" tribute show at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Lions Lincoln Theatre in downtown Massillon.

The comedy show includes material based on three of the popular television show's most famous episodes, and finishes with a murder mystery twist.

VIP tickets are $30; main floor tickets are $25; and balcony and wheelchair accessible seating is $20.

Alliance Cemetery Tour and peek inside mausoleums

The Alliance Historical Society has scheduled a self-guided tour of the Alliance Cemetery from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The tour begins at Mainwaring Chapel off Rockhill Avenue. Signs will be posted at 26 sites throughout the cemetery with information on the significance of the graves.

City Mausoleum and Morgan Mausoleum will be open for viewing.

Participants using the Clio app on their smartphones or by scanning the QR codes at each stop will hear narrations. Historical society members will help guide people through the cemetery while answering questions.

The cemetery was established in 1867.
