Things to do: Prom night, Rubiks Groove for vet fundraising, fine dining, dogs and music

Step back in time this weekend for a "second chance" prom night out at The Mulehouse, a Rubiks Groove concert to help veterans, or enjoying a delicious multi-course dinner at Farmstead Cellar.

There are also dogs and disc golf to be had at the park, which can brighten any summer weekend.

1. Second Chance Prom at The Mulehouse

Ever wanted to go back and have a do-over on your prom, or maybe relive a few fond high-school memories with your spouse or significant other?

The Mulehouse, 812 S. High St., will host a Second Chance Prom night, taking place starting at 8 p.m. Saturday.

The nostalgia-laden event will feature live music by The 90s Show playing all of the hits from back in the day.

Tickets to Second Chance Prom at The Mulehouse are $30 per person, along with a $4.30 service fee, and can be purchased at www.TheMulehouse.com.

2. Muletown Mission Possible with Rubiks Groove

On Mission Motorsports will host this year's Muletown Mission Possible fundraiser Friday at The Memorial Building, featuring music by Rubiks Groove.

Revisit the 1980s with the popular retro tribute band Rubiks Groove, while also raising money for a unique nonprofit for veterans.

On Mission Motorsports, who puts veterans in the co-driver seat taking part in various off-road racing experiences as a form of therapy and teamwork building, will host this year's Muletown Mission Possible this weekend.

The concert fundraiser will take place starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday at The Memorial Building, 308 W. 7th St. Tickets are $40 per person, or $150 for parties of four, and are available at www.OnMissionMotorsports.org.

In addition to a dance party, the event will also feature a live and silent auction. Food and beverages, which are included with each ticket purchase, will include smoked pork butt and sides, beer and vodka cocktails.

3. Farmstead Cellar Vigneron Dinner Series

Finding time for a fine, gourmet dinner is always a great and tasty way to start the weekend, and Farmstead Cellar has you covered.

Farmstead Cellar, 803 S. Main St., will host Farmstead Roots Vigneron Dinner featuring a special multi-course dinner prepared by Chef Lon Burcham. Farmstead proprietor James Evans will also provide a selection of fine wines.

Space is limited and seats are $125 per person, and can be booked online at www.ExploreStock.com.

4. Dog Days and Woodland Park disc golf

Has your family decided to add a new fur friend to the family, or are you an avid disc golfer looking to add a friendly addition to the game?

It'll be a day of dogs and disc golf at Woodland Park, 821 W. 9th St., with Dog Days Meet & Greet hosted by Russell Rescue of TN. The adoption event will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Russell Rescue invites the community to come meet some of their dogs, and maybe help a few of them find a new home. The event will also be livestreamed via Russell Rescue of TN's Facebook.

In addition, Muletown Disc Golf will host a disc golf tournament to benefit the rescue. All contestants must pre-register at www.MuletownDiscGolf.org, where there will be an option to donate to Russell Rescue.

5. Live entertainment

Krystal King will perform, as well as celebrate the release of her new single, "Red Wine & White Lies," at Grinder's Switch Winery, 510 N. Garden St., starting at 6 p.m. Friday. This will also be the kickoff for Grinder's Switch's fall acoustic series, which will occur most weekends through Oct. 21.

King Cotton Trio will perform at Puckett's in downtown Columbia starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Wentzel Brothers Band will perform at Asgard Brewing Co. & Taproom, 105 E. 5th St., starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

5 String Curl will perform at Bear Creek Bar and Grill, 1533 Bear Creek Pike, starting at 7 p.m. Friday.

Zone Status will perform at Fozzy's Bar & Grill, 150 Stephen P. Yokich Parkway in Spring Hill, starting at 8 p.m. Friday.

Dalton Little will perform at The Boondox, 3543 Highway 431, starting at 8 p.m. Friday.

Amber Falls Winery and Cellars, 794 Ridgetop Road in Hampshire, will host two Music On The Ridge events this weekend, the first featuring a performance by bluesman Crooked Eye Tommy from 3-7p.m. TBA food truck will also start serving at Amber Falls starting at 3 p.m.
