Saturday, April 30

Sangre de Cristo Arts Center, 210 N. Santa Fe Ave. | The Arts Center's school of dance presents William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" with Evolve Dance Project. Tickets are availableat the box office, one hour before the performance. 7:30 p.m.

Book signing, El Pueblo History Museum and Book Store, 301 N. Union Ave. | Local author Ron. S. Martinez, Sr. will be signing copies of his book "The Prairie Monster" as a part of the Pueblo Youth Voices Southern Colorado Youth Go (SoCoYoGo) event. "The Prairie Monster" follows the exploits of two children as they trek across the historic Colorado-New Mexico landscape and expose the fossil presence of a prehistoric monster. The free book signing will be from noon until 2 p.m. The author will be on hand for a meet-and-greet.

Colorado State Fair Fiesta Queen Scholarship Pageant, Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center | The 55th annual Colorado State Fair Fiesta Queen Scholarship pageant will take place June 11 but the registration deadline is April 30. Latina women aged 18-22 who live in Colorado are invited to participate and be in with a chance to win a share of $10,000 worth of scholarships, the largest of which is for $4,000. Conditions apply and are available, together with an application form and more details, at bit.ly/2022FiestaPageantApplicants.

Winery at Holy Cross Abbey, 3011 E. U.S. Highway 50, Cañon City | The winery's 15th annual spring wine extravaganza is back after a two-year hiatus forced on wine-lovers by the coronavirus pandemic. Five wines, hand-selected by winemaker Jeff Stultz, will be showcased, and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Tickets are $45. Congregation Wine Club members pay $35. 1 - 4 p.m. Tickets are available by phone — 719-276-5191 or 877-422-9463 — or online by going to at EventBrite.com and entering "15th Annual Spring Wine Extravaganza."

Face Vocal Band, Pueblo Memorial Hall, 1 City Hall Place| This all-vocal rock band from Boulder has captivated audiences for over a decade. Their music blends popular modern songs with complex harmonies and powerful vocals. Tickets cost between $17 and $41 and can be purchased at pueblomemorialhall.com/events. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Temple Emanuel, 1325 N. Grand Ave. | A concert featuring jazz group the Pueblo Six Shooters and the Shalom Klezmerim Ensemble with special guest Ben Ainots, will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to raise funds to repair the exterior of the synagogue. So far, $56,000 has been raised to repair issues caused by a shifting foundation, but $100,000 is needed. The concert is free but donations of $25-$30 per concert-goer are encouraged. Light refreshments will be provided at the end of the concert.

Cinco de Mayo, Thursday, May 5

Ready, set, kick! Performance given by Grupo Folklorico del Pueblo on Cinco de Mayo 2021.

Game Knight Games, 1839 S Pueblo Blvd | The Latino Chamber of Commerce is holding a Cinco de Mayo mixer, sponsored by Game Knight Games. The free evening will feature networking, music, and delicious treats and beverages. From 5 to 7 p.m. Bring friends and family.

Hoag Theater, Pueblo Community College, 900 W. Orman Ave. | Free presentation of "Sacagawea's Capture and the History of the Early West." Historian Elizabeth Fenn uses the circumstances of Sacagawea’s capture to illuminate a deeper history of the northern plains and Rockies. Fenn discusses indigenous warfare, hunting techniques, environmental conditions, horse-borne interactions, and plains power dynamics as they pertained to a one-month period of Sacagawea’s life. 7 - 9 p.m.
