Art After Hours at Sangre de Cristo Arts Center

210 N. Santa Fe Ave. | 6-7:30 p.m. | The event will feature drinks and an exclusive tour of the exhibit, "The Golden Hour: King Collection." The talk will offer insight into the collection of art that has been accumulated by Francis King and the significance of the collection to southern Colorado. Cost is $10 for nonmembers or $8 for members.

Punk show at Blo Back Gallery

131 Spring St. | 7-10:30 p.m. | Show to feature PID, Punch Your Boss, Hate Season and more. Cost is $5 and a canned good or $7 without the food. Some proceeds will benefit Pueblo United.

The Penelopiad at Steel City Theater

241 S. Santa Fe Ave. | 7:30 p.m. Friday, 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 1:30 p.m. Sunday | The Penelopiad focuses on the Greek story from Hades and that of undeserving victims of history and patriarchy. Warning, the show depicts violence and sensitive subjects. Cost is $12-$15. Tickets are on sale at steelcitytheatre.org

Saturday, May 13

Clean up at Pueblo Pioneer Cemetery

20th Avenue and Montezuma entrance | 8 a.m. to noon | Volunteers are needed to help clean the cemetery in advance of Memorial Day. Participants should bring a shovel, rake or trowel. Bags will be provided for trash and weeds. Water and snacks will be furnished by sponsors Pueblo Pioneer Cemetery Association and Pueblo Parks and Recreation.

May Daze Open chess tournament at City Park

George Williams Pavilion next to the fountain, 800 Goodnight Ave. | 10 a.m. with registration starting at 9 a.m. | The Pueblo Chess Club will host the single day, unrated chess tournament. Clocks will be used. Cost to enter is $10. Cash prizes of $40 for first place, $20 for second place and $15 for third place will be awarded. The chess club meets at 5 p.m. every Monday at the pavilion and there are no dues.

Car Show at Salvation Army

401 S. Prairie Ave. | 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with registration starting at 9 a.m. | This show is open to all cars, trucks and motorcycles. The event will benefit the Salvation Army Youth Programs and include a silent auction, door prizes, food, music and more. Preregister for $20 by emailing diane.gonzales@usw.salvationarmy.org or pay $25 on the day of the event.

Blooms at the Buell Children's Museum

210 N. Santa Fe. Ave. | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Celebrate a special woman in your life by painting a flower pot in the Artrageous Studio and choosing a flower from the pop-up flower shop.

Mother's Day Celebration at Colorado State Hospital Museum

Northwest corner of West 13th and Francisco streets | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Mothers are admitted free of charge. Learn about how the state hospital opened in 1879 when it was a major employer in town and ranked as one of the best mental hospitals in the country.

Sneak Peek of The Rides at City Park

3425 Nuckolls Ave. | 1-4 p.m. | The Rides at City Park will be open for a sneak peek and tickets are still only 25 cents. The rides will officially open on Memorial Day Weekend.

Walk a Mile fundraiser at Pueblo Riverwalk

Gateway Plaza | 2 p.m. | Pueblo Rape Crisis Services is hosting its annual mile walk and 5K run fundraiser to help raise awareness about the difficult topic of sexual violence and to demonstrate the community's support for survivors. Tickets can be purchased online at eventbrite.com. Registration fees are $30 with a T-shirt (limited supplies available) and $20 without a T-shirt. Walk-up registrations also are welcome for $25. All proceeds will directly support the work of Pueblo Rape Crisis Services to empower survivors, provide victim advocacy and build community awareness.

The Blast from Proms Past in Beulah

The Tucita, 8881 Grande Ave. | 7 p.m. | This adult prom encourages participants to dress in prom attire from their era. The Beulah Valley Arts Council is sponsoring the event. Cost is $10 and advance tickets are available at the General Store, The Market and The Stompin' Grounds. There will be a cash bar.

Wednesday, May 17

Punk show at Blo Back Gallery

131 Spring St. | 7-9 p.m. | Montana-based band N.I.A.T. will bring its grindcore to the Big Blo Stage and will be joined by local punk groups. Cost is $10.

Thursday, May 18

Flavor of Pueblo at Pueblo Convention Center

320 Central Main St. | 5-7:30 p.m. | United Way will host its 18th annual Flavor of Pueblo event. Participants can sample food and drinks from local restaurants, food trucks, breweries and more. Cost is $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Tickets are on sale at pueblounitedway.org/flavor.

Open Mic Night at Blo Back Gallery

131 Spring St. | 6-9 p.m. | Sign-up for performers is 6 p.m. and the show starts at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments and food will be available. The event is free.

Saturday, May 20

Wool dyeing workshop at El Pueblo History Museum

302 N. Union Ave. | 9 a.m. to noon | Deborah Martinez-Martinez will be teaching traditional wool dyeing using three natural dyes: Chamorro, yellow, and indigo. Kites and Coffee Festival at Civic Center Park

61 E. Civic Center Plaza | 10 a.m. | This Pueblo West Metro District event will take advantage of Pueblo West winds and feature a free kite giveaway for the first 20 participants. Coffee will be available from Ground Pounder Coffee.

Quilting meeting at Senior Resource Development Agency

230 N. Union Ave., south side | 10 a.m. to noon | City Beat Modern Quilters will meet to design a thank you banner for SRDA in appreciation of the agency's support. Guests are welcome. Cost is $3 for guests or $24 for an annual membership.
