'A Life Well Spent' at Bloback Gallery

131 Spring St. | Noon to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday | Pueblo son and mother duo Tom and Jean Latka created a conceptual sculpture featuring 15,000 personal checks that span 35 years. The piece is a visual exploration of a rapidly vanishing banking practice.

'Home is where the Art is' show at Steel City Art Works

216 S. Union Ave. | Visit with Santa 3-6 p.m. | Opening reception and art demo 5-8 p.m. | New art featuring five local artists. Deb Howard will provide a free demonstration on how to make three-dimensional sculptural bowls and complimentary refreshments will be served. Picture with Santa sessions are $20.

107 S. Grand Ave. | Opening reception 5-7 p.m. Friday | Five artists will showcase their work at the Pueblo Arts Alliance Liminal Gallery. Show continues noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

New art exhibits at Sangre de Cristo Arts Center

Santa Fe Ave. | 4-7 p.m. opening receptions | Exhibits feature collage work by Canon City artist Joan Sindler, a Colorado State Fair professional artist, and the "Altar: Albert Pachak" exhibition featuring the 2021 Colorado State Fair Emerging Artist's paintings. Both exhibits run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday until Feb. 25. Opening receptions are free.

Holiday Bazaar at Our Lady of the Meadows Catholic Church

23 Starling Drive | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and again 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday | Event features 30 tables of unique hand-crafted gifts and decorations plus a Confections Corner bake sale. Refreshments include breakfast burritos as well as kolbasi, pulled pork sandwiches and more.

Holiday Bazaar at Colorado State Fairgrounds

1001 Beulah Ave. | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and again from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday | More than 150 booths filled with handcrafted gifts, holiday decor, food items and more. Free admission and parking.

Pueblo West Women's League Community Food Drive at Keller Williams Realty

Corner of McCulloch and Joe Martinez | 9 a.m to 3 p.m. | Drop off non-perishables such ascanned goods, boxed meals, macaroni and cheese, rice, boxed potatoes, soups, crackers and peanut butter. All food goes to the food bank at Ecumenical Church of Pueblo West. Cash donations can be made at ecopw.org.

Veterans Day and bison celebration at the Pueblo Zoo

3455 Nuckolls Ave. | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | All veterans, active military and immediate family members are admitted free. The zoo also celebrates National Bison Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pueblo Zoo supports the Laramie Hills Bison Conservation Herd and efforts to return the native icon to the shortgrass prairie of northern Colorado. Pueblo Zoo is home to two male bison — father, Cody, and son, CJ (Cody Jr.). In addition, Wilder, from Great Outdoors Colorado, will make his Pueblo debut from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be educational talks, crafts and free giveaways while supplies last. Zoo admission ranges from $3 to $14.

Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce Veterans Day Parade

10 a.m. | Union Avenue and B Street | The 21st annual Veterans Day parade begins at Union Avenue and B Street, heads down Union and takes a right on City Center Drive, and then turns left on Main Street and ends at Third Street. The Parade Marshal is Leroy Garcia, special assistant to the assistant secretary of the Navy for manpower and reserve affairs. Honorary Parade Marshal is Benjamin (Benny) Casias, 93, a Korean War veteran, foster father and commander of the VFW in Boone from 1988 to 1989.

131 Spring St. | noon to 11 p.m. | Event is a one-day, multigenre, do-it-yourself music festival with two stages and 12 bands showcasing people who are historically excluded from the spotlight. Cost is $25 per person.

The Nutcracker Before Christmas at Pueblo Memorial Hall

1 City Hall Place | 2 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6 | This Second Street Dance Co. event will get you in the holiday spirit. Cost ranges from $19 to $36. Tickets are on sale at pueblomemorialhall.com.

Knights of Columbus Council Mass at Mount Carmel Catholic Church

421 Clark St. | 4:30 p.m. | The mass will honor the memory of past Grand Knight Art Samson of Denver who was instrumental in assisting Pueblo councils. Pastor Don Malin has extended an invitation to all knights to attend and is asking attendees to wear knight's attire.

Pueblo Polynesian Performance and Luau at Sangre de Cristo Arts Center

210 N. Santa Fe | 5-8 p.m. | Authentic Polynesian experience with performances and luau dinner that will take you through the Pacific Islands. There will be a cash bar along with merchandise tables at the family friendly event. Tickets range from $35 to $55 at unation.com.

Dia de los Muertos Show at Sangre de Cristo Arts Center

210 N. Santa Fe Ave. | 2:30 p.m. | Grupo Folklórico del Pueblo's year-end performance will take you on a journey to Mictlan (the underworld). Tickets are $10 for adults or $5 for children.

Tuesday, Nov. 8

'Lights, Camera, Christmas' exhibit at the Buell Children’s Museum

210 N. Santa Fe Ave. | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Dec. 31 | Learn about the filming process for some favorite holiday films. There will be an indoor “frozen” lake where kids will be able to safely glide while staying warm. The ice castle and log cabin will set the scene for kids to stage a snowball fight. A Christmas tree and a make-believe hot cocoa stand will finish off the holiday scenes. The exhibit includes an Animation Station that is designed to teach advancements that changed Christmas movie animation. Patrons will also be able to spot some of their favorite animated characters like Snoopy and the Grinch. Admission to the Buell costs $10 for adults or $8 for children and seniors.

434 S Conquistador Ave. | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday | Event features Christmas decorations and gifts, handmade crafts and baked goods. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are also available.

Pueblo County Veterans Day Ceremony at the Riverwalk

Veterans Bridge near Gateway Park, behind 120 Riverwalk Place | 11 a.m. | The annual event will honor all local veterans who have served. Master of Ceremonies is Col. Jeff Chostner, who served in the U.S. Air Force. Guest speakers include Brian McCain of the Air Force, Paul Hendricksen of the U.S. Army, Mike Herrera of the U.S. Marine Corps and Zach Swearingen of the U.S. Navy. The event will include a presentation of colors, a flyover, 21-gun salute and the playing of Taps.

Warren Miller's 'Daymaker' film screening at Pueblo Memorial Hall

1 City Hall Place | 7 p.m. | A screening of Warren Miller's latest ski and snowboard film. Door prizes will be awarded. Cost is $18.

Saturday, Nov. 12

Top Hats and Tiaras Toy and Food Drive at Eagles Lodge No. 145

1615 S. Prairie Ave. | 6 p.m. cocktail hour, 7-10 p.m. dancing | Dress in your holiday finest and start the season by giving to those less fortunate. Bring a new, unwrapped toy plus a nonperishable food item. Proceeds and items will go to the Migrant Education Program of Southeast Colorado. Cost is $15 per person and light snacks are included.

Indigenous Film Festival at El Pueblo History Museum

302 N. Union Ave. | Noon to 4 p.m. | This free event features two documentary screenings followed by a panel discussion.

Stargazing telescope viewing at Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center

5200 Nature Center Road | 6:30 p.m. | Members of the Southern Colorado Astronomical Society Club will lead a telescope viewing session. Alternate date is Nov. 17 if weather does not cooperate Nov. 15.
