Burlington Municipal Band free concert is 7:30 p.m. at the Crapo Park band shell. Arnie Anderson conducts.

Henry County Democrats will host an ice cream social to include several of the Iowa Democratic Candidates for office at 1 p.m. in Mount Pleasant's Central Park.

Homemade Ice Cream Social is 3-6 p.m. at the Wever Odd Fellows Lodge, 1696 U.S. 61, also serving maid rites, hot dogs, pies, cakes, and drinks.

"Hunchback of Notre Dame The Musical" presented by students from UNI, SCC, Danville, Notre Dame, West Burlington, Illini West, Mount Pleasant, Great River Christian, and select members of Bel Canto Chorale is 3 p.m. at the Capitol Theater, 211 N. Third St. Door admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Mother Moon Yoga, donation-based, is at 9 a.m. at Lake Geode beach. All proceeds benefit Friends of Geode.

Players Workshop open auditions for the musical "Mamma Mia!" are at 7 p.m. at the Workshop, 1431 Grove St., seeking ages 15-70 to fill 13 principal roles (6 female and 7 male), and a mixed ensemble of 12 or more people. Tryouts will include readings, songs, and choreography from the play, all provided.

Castrol FloRacing Night in America, some of the biggest stars in Super late Model racing come to 34 Raceway to compete for a $22,000 top prize. Admission is adults $30, students and seniors $28, kids 10 and under $5 with paid adult. Gates open at 4 p.m.; hot laps at 6:15 p.m. and racing follows. 34raceway.com

National Night Out 2022 is 6-9 p.m. on Burlington's Riverfront. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

Henry County Public Health is offering free, walk-in dental, vision and lead screenings from 1-6 p.m., in addition to the regular immunizations and COVID-19 vaccinations.

Jefferson Street Farmers Market is 4:30-7 p.m. in downtown Burlington.

Moose Lodge 579, 2529 Mount Pleasant St., will host bingo; doors open at 4 p.m.; early bird is 6:20 p.m., regular games are 7 p.m. Yolanda’s food will be available with carry out too.

Mount Pleasant Main Street Art Center August exhibit, “The Great American Freak Show” has 14 brand-new originals depicting the state of the world by James Walker Henry. The reception is 4 to 7 pm., with musical guest, recording artist Pat Kaltefleiter who will be playing original ballots.

Steamboat Senior Center, 501 Jefferson St., will have live music from 1-3 p.m.

Friday

American Duchess Riverboat Docking is 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Welcome the return of the American Duchess riverboat to Greater Burlington.

Art Center of Burlington, 301 Jefferson St., reception for the August Gallery Show, Hang It Up, featuring local artists Fritz Goeckner, Karla Mundt, Lin Parks and Jessica Kirby, is 5-8 p.m. Admission is free.

FMAAA Art Center, 825 Avenue G, opening reception for Shifting Matters, a solo exhibition of paintings by Chicago Artist Elisabeth Heying is 5-7 p.m. Admission is free.

Moose Lodge 579, 2529 Mount Pleasant St., will serve chicken and fish, cucumber and tomato salad, and roll from 5-7 p.m. Bridge City will play from 7:30-10:30 p.m.

Steve Brower will discuss "Leopold Land Ethic" at 10 a.m. at Burlington Public Library, 210 Court St., for its free First Friday program.

Winfield Crooked Creek Days kicks off with the two-person best shot golf tournament at 9 a.m. today. There is a meal at Twin Lakes Country Club at 5 p.m.

Saturday

Corked 101, 514 Jefferson St., will feature Bocephus Wayne from 7-9 p.m.

Donation-based beach yoga is 9-10 a.m. raising funds for the Friends of Geode concession renovation project.

Friends of Geode Fun Day and "Yak Attack" is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Geode State Park, 3333 Racine Ave., Danville, with food trucks, a kayak event, fundraising auction, and Friends merchandise.

Heritage Trust Preservation Station, 213 Valley St., is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, selling unique vintage decorative items and historic building materials.

Hillsboro will have its annual picnic starting at 4 p.m. There will be a cookout with a free-will donation meal, a silent auction, and games in Hillsboro City Park.

That's Yesterday's News, "Two Plain Drunks Tell It to the Judge," is 10-11:30 a.m. at Burlington Public Library, 210 Court St. Local historian Terry Abrisz uses the local newspaper to share a story of the community with a different topic each week. This week he will share tales from police court. Everyone is welcome.
