'Top Gun: Maverick' at the Canton Palace Theatre

The mega movie hit "Top Gun: Maverick" will be shown on the Canton Palace Theatre's massive screen on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Starring Tom Cruise in a sequel to the original 1986 "Top Gun" release, the 2022 version is part of the Palace Theatre's 2023 Award Nominated Film Series. The PG-13 rated movie runs two hours, 10 minutes.

Doors open 30 minutes before the 7:30 p.m. shows. Tickets are $7 and only available at the door. The Palace Theatre is at 605 Market Ave. N in downtown Canton.

Canton Symphony Orchestra will step into the music time machine on Feb. 4 with an '80s-themed concert.

The London-based "Jeans 'n Classics" will join its rock band format with the local symphony to present "The Amazing '80s!" while performing classic pop songs by Tears for Fears, Prince, Heart, Bananarama, The B-52's and other musical artists.

To purchase tickets − $25, $35 and $55 − go to www.cantonsymphony.org, call 330-452-2094 or email boxoffice@cantonsymphony.org. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at Umstattd Hall, 2331 17th St. NW in Canton at the Zimmermann Symphony Center.

Jeans n' Classics has partnered with the Canton symphony previously for pops concerts showcasing the music of ABBA, The Beatles, Queen, the Eagles, Led Zeppelin and other iconic artists.

'St Valentino's Massacre' at Roxy Theater in Minerva

"St. Valentino's Massacre" will be performed Feb. 4 at the Roxy Theater, 114 N Market St. in Minerva.

The Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce is presenting the dinner theater show benefitting the Roxy Theater. Professional acting troupe Floriano Productions will be performing.

Set in the 1920s, the play tells the story of the world premiere of the fictitious new silent film "Silent Floozy," starring husband-and-wife team Valentino Giuliani and Lacy LaRue.

The dinner includes baked parmesan chicken breasts, pulled pork, redskin potatoes, green beans, tossed salad and dessert. A cash bar will be available. Doors open one hour before the 7 p.m. show.

Beatletfest in Kent with Hard Day's Night

The ninth annual Kent Beatlefest will feature acclaimed Beatles tribute band Hard Day's Night on Feb. 17 at The Kent Stage, 175 E Main St.

The popular "Fab Four" act will perform for free at the all ages event. Hard Day's Night plays classic Beatles songs with period instruments and outfits.

The concert is part of a free Beatles-themed celebration with live music at multiple downtown Kent venues; for more information and a schedule, go to https://www.kentbeatlefest.com/.

Nashville-based musician Heidi Burson will sing legendary songs as part of "SOUL" on Feb. 9 at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas.

Burson will perform with a 10-piece band; the setlist includes songs by Carole King, Ray Charles, Bill Withers, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations and Etta James.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. concert start at $30 and can be purchased at https://www.kent.edu/tuscpac and by calling 330-308-6400. Box office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

The Performing Arts Center includes free parking and is on the KSU Tuscarawas campus, 330 University Drive NE in New Philadelphia.

Singer-songwriter John Waite will perform on Feb. 3 at The Kent Stage, 175 E. Main St.

Known for his classic rock and pop song hits, the longtime musician will be playing material from across his career, including "Isn't It Time," "Every Time I Think of You," "Missing You" and "When I See You Smile."
