ADM Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10 at ADM High School.

The 2023 ADM Athletic Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10 during the ADM All Alumni Reunion. This event is open to the public and free to attend. The Class of 2023 ADM Athletic Hall of Fame includes Brett Glenn, Class of 1985; Jared Grove, Class of 2012; William Kimber, Administrator; Robert Liston, Class of 1962; Bruce Pinkerton, Class 1979. The inductees will be honored at the ADM Alumni Association All School Reunion on Aug. 10 in the 8-9 Commons, with the formal ceremony that evening at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Adel Sweet Corn Festival

Aug. 11-12 in Adel.

Adel's annual Sweet Corn Festival will return on Aug. 11-12. The event kick off on Friday, Aug. 11 with the husking of the corn starting at 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot at 10th and Prairie, followed by the princess contest at 6:30 p.m. The festivities continue on Saturday, Aug. 12 with a 5k run/walk at 7:30 a.m. The parade will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by free sweet corn, free entertainment, sand volleyball and bags tournaments, car show, fun zone, street dance and more. Charlie Brewer Memorial Fun Run

9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at Woodward Trestle Trailhead.

The 3rd annual Charlie Brewer Memorial Fun Run will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12. You've Got a Friend in Me will be giving back to the community since funds have been raised for the scholarship up to his graduating class. The group will be helping out by supplying school supplies, coats, hats, gloves, snow pants, snow boots; supporting Beaver Creek with the food on their tournament; supporting the Woodward library program and more. Charlie has a smile that is contagious and loves all things in life. He always thinks of others before himself. This is why the group is giving back to the community in his name. So come run off some energy and bring the kiddos for some fun. Hot Rods & Hogs

10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at Centennial Park, Granger.

Join us for the 10th annual Hot Rods & Hogs. This event is a fundraiser for Volunteer Community Services of Woodward & Granger to help fund their operating expenses. We'll have a huge lunch with hog roast, all the fixings and Grimes Sweet Corn. We'll have a DJ, prizes, raffle and dash plaques for the first 100 exhibitors. We also have peoples choice judging in five fun categories with framed certificates. Everything is free-will donation.

Trent Miner Memorial Parent/Child Golf Tournament

9 a.m., 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13 at Perry Golf and Country Club.

The annual Trent Miner Memorial Parent/Child Golf Tournament will return on Sunday, Aug. 13. The first parent/child session (13 years or younger) starts at 9 a.m. with a cost of $15 per person. The second parent/child session (14 years and older) starts at 1 p.m. with a cost of $30 per person. A parent can also be any relative. A meal is included with registration. Silent auction items and raffle prizes will also be available. Doggy Dip

6-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13 at Adel Family Aquatic Center.

The Adel Family Aquatic Center invites residents to bring their four-legged friends to the pool for a splash of fun on the final day of the 2023 pool season. The cost is $6 per dog.

Scan and Collect Day

1-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 at Carnegie Library Museum.

Do you have old photos or historical materials that should not be lost forever? Bring items in to donate or bring photos, etc. and the Perry Historical Society will scan them that day and return them to you. Help us save Perry's history.

Build the Blue Event

5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30 at Hotel Pattee's Courtyard Cafe.

Dallas County Democrats and Perry Area Democrats are hosting a Build the Blue event from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at Hotel Pattee's Courtyard Cafe. Rob Sand, Auditor for the State of Iowa, and Iowa Senator Sarah Trone Garriot will be speaking. Heavy appetizers will be served. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at Iowa Dallas County Democrats website under events tab, Build the Blue.
