Bingo at Moose Lodge #579, 2529 Mount Pleasant St. Doors open at 4 p.m., Early Bird at 6:20 p.m., regular games at 7 p.m. Yolanda’s food available with carry out.

Diabetes Support Group meets from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Henry County Health Center Diabetes Education Center, Suite 25, in Mount Pleasant. Take a deeper dive into diabetes topics that interest you and connect with others. Current safety precautions require that face masks be worn by all patients and visitors in clinical areas. No youth under the age of 14 are allowed to enter Henry County Health Center unless the child is a patient coming for an appointment. Please remember to social distance in the hallways, waiting areas and classrooms, cover your coughs and sneezes, and stay home when ill.

Friday, Oct. 21

Bridge City performs from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Moose Lodge #579, 2529 Mount Pleasant St. Swiss Steak, mashed potatoes and veggies will be served from 5 to 7 p.m.

Witches’ Night Out is from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown Burlington. Grab your girls and fly into downtown Burlington for a wonderful, witchy night out! Your $10 ticket gets you a pointy hat, eerily glowing necklace and all the bling you can gather up on your travels through the fun shops and businesses in downtown Burlington.

Haunted Auditorium is from 7 to 11:30 p.m. at Memorial Auditorium. Head to the Burlington riverfront for the freakiest fun, the creepiest creatures and the spookiest scares this Halloween season. Notrecommended for children under 12. Tickets are $10 each at the door, or book a Fast Passfor groups of 6 – 10 to ensure you can experience the terror together.

Kurt Allen Band performs at 8 p.m. at The Washington. High energy blues, soul, jazz, funk & rock – Kurt Allen fronts an amazing group of talented musicians you won’t want to miss. Tickets are $12 at Eventbrite.com.

3rd Friday: Monochrome from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gallery Lounge in the Art Center of Burlington. Each first and third Friday, the Gallery Lounge is open with wine, beer and charcuterie, plus live music – surrounded by original artworks from local and regional artists. Friday Night Art Hop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Art Center of Burlington. Need an adult moment – or 90 or them? Drop the kids (age 3 and up) at the Art Center for a fun evening of stories, art projects and snacks. $10 per child; children must be potty-trained or accompanied by a caregiver.

Carol Jean & Jera perform at 6 p.m. at Wake N Bake Breakfast Co. Area favorites Carol Jean & Jera bring their sweet harmonies and country, bluegrass, rock & pop tunes back to Wake N Bake. Come see them live on the west end of Jefferson Street.

Learn All About Bats at 6:30 p.m. at Starr’s Cave Nature Center. Do bats bite people? Do they get tangled in your hair? What should you do if a bat gets into your house? Get the real scoop on these amazing mammals – and maybe encounter some bats in the wild. Dress appropriately for a hike of approximately one mile. This event is free and open to the public; no registration is required.

Dueling Pianos at 6 p.m. at Barn on the Ridge. Enjoy a relaxing evening of food, fun, and an all-request dueling pianos with friends and fellow supporters of Young House Family Services, an organization working to improve the lives of children and families in Des Moines County.

Humane Society Trivia Night at 5:30 p.m. at Eagles Aerie 150. Think you know ‘70s & ‘80s sitcoms? Show off your knowledge (and your vintage clothing!) and help support the Des Moines County Humane Society at this fun fund-raising event! Up to 8 people per table, and teams are strongly encouraged to dress as their favorite ‘70s/’80s sitcom family. $15 per person; please register in advance at the shelter, open 3-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. weekends.

Iowa Rock & Roll Music Association Dance Night at 7 p.m. at Catfish Bend Convention & Event Center. With performances by Leaving Abbey and Richie Lee & the Fabulous 50s, it’s sure to be a rockin’ good timecelebrating the 2022 Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees – including Burlington’s own Capitol Theater! Doorsopen at 6 p.m.; tickets are $30 in advance and available at Player Services or online.

Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Capitol Theater. “Towering Footprints” is the first concert in the orchestra’s 72nd season, Footprints in Time. Featuring a work from Joan Tower, one of the world’s leading female composers, along with works from Melanie Bonis, Eric Whitacre and Prokofiev.

Dance to Ned Francis from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Loft in downtown Burlington. The event, sponsored by The Cotillion Club, is open to the public. Cover charge $12.50 per person, and snack food served.

Geode Genesis Trail Run at 9 a.m. at Geode State Park. Limber up for the first ever Geode Genesis Trail Run. Registration fee is $35 for the full trail, $25 for the 5k. Proceeds go to support improvements and additions at the park.

Pumpkinpalooza is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Burlington Public Library. Drop in and decorate your own spooky or silly pumpkin! This event is free and open to the public, but you must register for a pumpkin. Just call the library or register online by clicking the event on the calendar.

Sunday, Oct. 23

Trunk or Treat is from 4 to 5 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church. Trick-or-treating fun in the parking lot at Messiah Lutheran on West Avenue. This event is free and open to the public.
