WWE returns to Canton after three-year absence

Professional wrestling returns Saturday night to the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

Billed as "WWE Saturday Night's Main Event," the card features Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley in a "Raw Women's Championship Triple Threat Match."

Other matches include Cody Rhodes vs. Seth "Freakin" Rollins and Asuka vs. Becky Lynch. Other attractions include the 7-foot-3, 403-pound "Nigerian Giant Omos."

Tickets range from $15 to more than $100 each, and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com/.

Start time is 7:30 p.m. The Civic Center is at 1101 Market Ave. N in downtown Canton.

The Canton Symphony Orchestra will present the world premiere of Daniel Perttu's "A Planets Odyssey!" at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

In this new piano concerto, Perttu and Grammy award-winning soloist Jeffrey Biegel "will take (concertgoers) on a voyage through our solar system in the form of a theme and variations that explores the unique properties and characteristics of each planet," the symphony orchestra said in promoting the event.

Show highlights include the work of Jessie Montgomery, an American composer who rose to prominence last decade. The symphony orchestra also will perform Joseph Haydn’s opera "Il Mondo della Luna" (“The World on the Moon”), a "comedic romp about a fool who gets tricked into believing he’s gone to the moon," the orchestra said.

The concert concludes with Mozart’s “Jupiter” symphony.

Tickets, from $10 to $50 each plus fees, are available at www.cantonsymphony.org and by calling the box office at 330-452-2094.

The concert is at Umstattd Hall, 2331 17th St. NW in Canton, at the Zimmermann Symphony Center.

The St. Barbara Parish Festival is Thursday through Sunday, featuring games, live music, food, beer and raffles.

Rides are provided by Bates Brothers Amusement Co. Single-day wristbands are $20; a 12-pack of tickets is $10.

Festival hours are: 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday; 5 to 11 p.m. Friday; 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Live music is also featured: Billy Likes Soda, 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday; LaFlavour, 7 to 10 p.m. Friday; New Wave Nation, 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday; and Disco Inferno, 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Area authors signing books in Kent on Saturday

Two Northeast Ohio authors with mutual appreciation for each other's work will sign books from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Logos Bookstore in Kent.

Edie Bowman of Canton wrote "God in Every Moment-Nothing Is Off Limits." Bowman's friend, Deborah Markowitz Solan of Cuyahoga Falls, has authored a similar book, "Chesed-A Jewish Woman’s Discovery of God’s Mercy."

Originally unaware Solan had written the book, Bowman told her she was inspired after discovering it, finding it "extremely relatable to me."

After Solan read Bowman's book, she expressed similar sentiments, finding Bowman's work to be "an authentic and relatable compilation of stories, poems, quotes and life experiences that are entertaining and inspirational."

"God in Every Moment" is about the real-life experiences of an African-American woman who is committed to her faith and family.

“Edie and I are excited to come together as ‘sisters’ in our faith for our book signing,” Solan said in a prepared statement. "We both believe that God’s love overcomes racial barriers and brings hope in times of uncertainty."

Logos Bookstore is at 976 W. Main St. in Kent.

Mike Albert's Ultimate Elvis Tribute with the Big E Band returns at 7:30 p.m. Saturday to the Lions Lincoln Theatre in Massillon.

Tickets are $25, $30 and $35. All seats are reserved and can be purchased at www.lionslincolntheatre.org or by calling 330-481-9105. Remaining tickets may be purchased at the theater's box office one hour before showtime.

Albert's Elvis tribute show has become known worldwide, Lions Lincoln Theatre said in a news release.

Albert has won several Elvis impersonator contests. "Mike's style and charisma, and his ability to get the audience involved in the show, have proved to be quite the crowd-pleaser," the news release said.

Lions Lincoln Theatre is located at 156 Lincoln Way E in downtown Massillon.

“Boutiques on Main” will feature a collection of local shopping vendors. More than 100 local "makers, bakers, brewers (and) growers" will be set up open-air market style in the St. Paul Community Lot and in North Canton city square.

A new attraction is the 720 “Bakers Square," specializing in baked goods. Food trucks and live music also will be featured. Craft beer and coffee also will be available.

Activities will be at Main and Maple streets, as well as at 141 N. Main St.

North Canton Beer Fest on Saturday

The third annual North Canton Craft Beer Festival is 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, featuring more than 15 area breweries at MAPS Air Museum in Green.

Food trucks also will be on site. Organizers have anticipated the event will sell out, with a maximum of 500 tickets available.

Participating breweries include Codex Brewing, Royal Docks Brewing, Shale Brewing, Maize Valley, UnHitched Brewing and Paradigm Shift.

MAPS Air Museum is at 2260 International Parkway, near the Akron-Canton Airport.

VIP tickets are sold out. General admission tickets (5 p.m. entry) cost $50 plus fees. Designated driver tickets are $10 each.

Tickets include a custom sampling glass and 20 tickets for 20 beer samples. The Akron-Canton Airport is sponsoring the event.
