Who do you think should be educators of the year? Nominations are open

EVANSVILLE − Nominations are now being accepted for the Outstanding Educators of the Year Awards for Vanderburgh County.

The nominations must be received by Jan. 6. Each year, four Vanderburgh County educators are recognized for their love of teaching and commitment to local students. The awards are sponsored by Liberty Federal Credit Union, the Courier & Press and the University of Evansville.

Every year, one educator who excels at their job is chosen in four categories: Elementary School Teacher (K-5), Middle School Teacher (6-8), High School Teacher (9-12) and Building Principal. Nominees must be current full-time K-12 classroom teachers or building principals who have been employed for at least three full years.

The winners will receive $1,000 cash awards and be recognized at the School of Education recognition ceremony at the University of Evansville on April 27, 2023.

There were 177 individuals nominated for the awards last year, said coordinator Amy McBride, an associate professor at UE's School of Education.

"This means the four winners are an elite group of educators!" she said.

Nominations can be submitted through a new web link at www.evansville.edu/educators or by scanning an updated QR code on posters and advertisements for the awards.
