Active listings and median home sale prices are on the rise in south-central Kansas year-over-year, and home values are no exception.

According to newly published data from the South-Central Kansas Association of REALTORS, there were roughly 41% more active listings on the market in June compared to June 2022. Median sale prices are also up about 8% year-over-year, settling at approximately $235,000 for homes in Butler, Cowley, Harvey, Sedgwick and Summer counties.

Median home values in some parts of the Wichita area have surged by nearly 19% over the past year, lending further support to growth in the local real estate market.

That figure, which reflects the largest increase in median home values among Wichita-area ZIP codes, comes courtesy of real estate site Zillow’s Home Value Index. The tool reported a median home value increase of 19.02% for the 67050 ZIP code near Garden Plain, while the 67214 ZIP code in Wichita saw a jump of roughly 15.7% between June 2022 and 2023.

Five other Wichita-area ZIP codes observed median home values increase by at least 9.2% over the past year.

Here’s a look at ZIP codes in the Wichita area and how the median home values there have changed between June 2022 and 2023, according to Zillow.

The average Wichita home saw its value increase by about 5.9% over the last year, reaching roughly $186,579. On average, ZIP codes in the broader Wichita area saw their median home values increase by about 6.1% between June 2022 and 2023.

The five ZIP codes in the Wichita area with the highest mid-point home values are:

  • 67228 with a median home value of $451,824

  • 67227 with a median home value of $444,550

  • 67230 with a median home value of $425,575

  • 67223 with a median home value of $423,108

  • 67232 with a median home value of $421,800

The ZIP code with the lowest median home value in the area is 67214, which checked in at $72,914, the Home Value Index reports.

According to Zillow, the five ZIP codes near Wichita with the lowest mid-point values are:

  • 67214 with a median home value of $72,914

  • 67213 with a median home value of $102,452

  • 67211 with a median home value of $103,406

  • 67216 with a median home value of $121,993

  • 67218 with a median home value of $133,576

While no ZIP codes in the Wichita area had decreases in median home value over the last year, 67232 recorded the smallest jump with just a 0.57% reported increase, Zillow says.
