Third-generation Amarillo business Thermal Scientific relocates to new building in Canyon

After 46 years in Amarillo, Thermal Scientific, a third-generation, family-owned and veteran-operated distributor of scientific products, has announced its relocation into a new and improved location at 18600 Interstate Highway 27, Suite 100, in Canyon.

While the new location is only 15 minutes from the old facility, the company said this represents a significant milestone in its continued growth and dedication to distribute and stock the laboratory supply and scientific products that its customers need.

According to Thermal Scientific CEO Coby Wishert, the move became a necessity due to the growth the company has seen over the past few years. And with the lease coming to an end on their former space, the company felt it was right to create a space of their own.

Over the last three years, the business has seen an on-average 19% increase in sales year over year, with a 30% year-over-year increase in profit. Due to this, the company found they were in need of more storage and office space to better provide for their employees and clientele.

Thermal Scientific employees Holden Vore, Nathan Vore, Alex Garcia, Stoney McCarty, Jason Anderson, Clifton Linde, and Coby Wishert help move Thermal Scientific to its new location at 18600 Interstate Highway 27 in Canyon.

The new building, built and owned by the brothers managing Thermal Scientific, is approximately 10,800 square feet. Thermal Scientific will be utilizing approximately 5,400 square feet of its new, highway-front facility. The building has an additional 5,400 square feet of space to accommodate other tenants or future expansion.

"My grandfather opened the Amarillo branch around 46 years ago.” Wishert said in a news release. “He would be amazed by the growth that has required us to move into a larger space and proud of the new facility and its location on the highway. Our employees and customers deserve the best, and this move is a major step in that direction. The location and design of our facility will allow us to better serve our customers for decades to come.”

The transition to the new Canyon facility was completed over the weekend of Dec. 8-10 to minimize any disruption in service. Thermal Scientific said its existing contact information, including phone numbers and email addresses, will remain the same.

In addition to the move, the company is also seeking new employees, with positions opening for a new branch manger and possible sales positions, as well as warehouse employees.

Thermal Scientific extends its gratitude to its customers, partners, suppliers and employees for their continued support and dedication. As an important bridge to scientific innovation and advancement, the company looks forward to expanding its five-star service from the new facility.

Clifton Linde, COO of Thermal Scientific, stated in a news release: “Thermal Scientific is excited about our new building in Canyon, Texas ... The strategic decision to build and move to a facility designed to scale underscores our dedication to meeting the growing demand for our products and services.”

With the new location, the company was also able to purchase more equipment to help maneuver the products they sell. Wishert said that he believed the growth of the company stemmed from the area's and state's conscious push to shop locally, which has helped the business to establish and continue to serve their clients, with more than 500-plus suppliers with their more than 500,000 skews.

"All of the people that use science to make it better place, we provide those people with the tools they need," Wishert said. "Our primary purpose in this world is to be the bridge between science and innovation and the tools that they need to get things done."

"Overall, we work to stay private, keep it family owned ... provide the best possible work environment we can for the people we employ and keep the legacy alive and continue those connections we established and providing quality products and deals for those we serve in the community and state," Wishert added.
