When the choice comes down to Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, a lot of voters are reaching back into the pile.

According to Google Trends, searches for "third party candidate 2016" have spiked 1,150 percent in the last week — the week of the Republican National Convention.

States with the highest interest include Missouri, Colorado, Michigan, Washington and Ohio. Colorado and Ohio, it should be noted, are battleground states in the 2016 election.

Favorable third-party candidates people are searching for include Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson.

It's anyone's guess whether the Democratic National Convention will spark better search statistics.
