Feb. 5—CONCORD — The third-ranking House Democrat endorsed Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington's Democratic primary bid for governor Monday.

House Democratic Leader Pro Tempore Karen Ebel of New London is serving in her sixth term.

"Cinde is a proven leader who knows how to win tough battles. As the only Democrat on the Executive Council, Cinde has stood up for reproductive freedom, public education, democracy, and more," Ebel said in a statement.

Ebel serves on the House Finance and Rules Committees along with the Special Commission on Commissions.

"Representative Ebel has dedicated her career to defending abortion access, protecting our environment, lowering energy costs, and keeping public money in public schools," Warmington said. "Together, we have worked to clean up landfills and combat PFAS contamination across the state."

Warmington and her primary opponent, former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig, have attracted the backing of prominent Democrats.

Former U.S. Rep. Carol Shea Porter, D-N.H. is backing Warmington while ex-Gov. John Lynch and former Supreme Court Justice John Broderick are among those in Craig's camp.
