Third Wawa coming to Pensacola area as part of Ransley Station development

A third Wawa is coming to Escambia County and its plans have already been approved for development.

The popular gas-and-convenience chain’s newest location will be built off Pine Forest Road as a part of the Ransley Station development.

It will join two other Wawa stores that have already been announced − one on West Nine Mile Road and the other on North Blue Angel Parkway.

The station expected to be built first, as it received approval from the Development Review Committee on Oct. 25, is planned for the corner of West Nine Mile Road and Beulah Road. Wawa officials said earlier this year that developing a new Wawa store takes about six to nine months.

The second announced Wawa store, which is being developed by WaWa Florida, LLC out of Orlando, is planned to be built at 9262 W Highway 98. It has not yet passed Escambia County’s Development Review Committee. Once the project gets approved, it will be at least summer of 2024 before the new Wawa opens.

Where will the third Wawa be?

The new Wawa will be located at 8840 Boesch Lane. The development, owned by Ransley Station Development, LLC, will be built on a two-acre parcel of previously undeveloped land, according to the Project’s Information Form filed with Escambia County.

This Wawa will be accessible from two roads: Ransley Station Boulevard and Boesch Lane, according to the project’s development order from Escambia County.

A proposed Miller’s Ale House development, which hasn’t yet been approved by Escambia County’s Development Review Committee, is planned for across Ransley Station Boulevard from the incoming Wawa.

Wawa developers initially filed for approval from Escambia County’s Development Review Committee in late June.

The developers had to make minor changes to their initial plans, such as providing the anticipated path that fuel-delivery vehicles will use, following comments from the Development Review Committee after their pre-application review of the project.

After making changes to their site plans, the new Wawa’s developers applied for approval again on Aug. 21 and their project was approved by the Development Review Committee on Nov. 15.

Wawa's Florida stores are mostly in the southwest, across central Florida and up and down the east coast, but in 2021 Wawa announced plans to open up to 40 new stores around Pensacola, Panama City and Tallahassee (along with Mobile, Alabama) over the next eight to 10 years.
