Thirteen-year-old seriously injured in bike vs. car crash in Park Township

PARK TWP. — A teen was transferred to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital after colliding with a Buick Enclave while riding a bike in Park Township on Memorial Day, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a reports of a car vs. bike accident shortly before 5 p.m. Monday, May 29, at the intersection of Grove Avenue and Elmer Street south of Lake Macatawa.

Upon arrival, they learned a 13-year-old Holland area boy was riding south on Grove on a bicycle when he passed through the intersection and collided with the Enclave, driven by an 18-year-old Holland woman.

The 13-year-old was taken to Holland Hospital by AMR Ambulance and later transferred to Helen DeVos. The incident remains under investigation. The 18-year-old was unharmed.
