Thirty high school basketball players from Kentucky to take on all-star teams from Ohio

Jaylen Davis of Madison Central and Jazmin Chambers of Franklin County will represent the Lexington area’s 11th Region in the 30th annual Ohio-Kentucky all-star basketball games at Thomas More University in Crestview Hills on Saturday night.

Doors open at 4 p.m., with the girls’ game scheduled for 5 p.m. and the boys’ for 7 p.m.

Admission is $15, which includes both “Battle at the Border” games.

Joining Davis on the 15-player Kentucky boys’ all-stars are Eli Brooks (Barren County), Greg Cole (Pleasure Ridge Park), Ethan Cooper (Garrard County), Gabe Dynes (Simon Kenton), Jack Edelen (Male), Trent Edwards (George Rogers Clark), Terrell Henry (Mason County), Evan Ipsaro (Covington Catholic), Cyr Malonga (Evangel Christian), John McCrear (Woodford County), Jacob Meyer (Covington Holy Cross), Marquez Miller (Newport), Teagan Moore (Owen County) and Keith Robinson (Pleasure Ridge Park).

Kentucky’s boys’ head coach is Larry Kihnley of PRP, assisted by Josh Cook of George Rogers Clark.

The 15-player Kentucky girls’ roster is led by 2023 Miss Basketball Haven Ford of Rowan County. Joining Chambers and Ford are Grace Brewer (Walton-Verona), Haley Dillman (Bullitt Central), Taylor Guess (Crittenden County), Abby Holtman (Ryle), Courtney Hoskins (Leslie County), Noelle Hubert (Notre Dame), Sanaa Jackson (Paris), Whitney Lind (Cooper), Love Mays and Desiree Tandy (Danville), Destiny Thomas (McCracken County), Saniah Thomas (Pendleton County) and Jakayla Thompson (Manual).

The girls’ head coach is Franklin County’s Joey Thacker, assisted by Danville’s Judie Mason.

The all-star weekend was to begin Friday at 7 p.m. with the Slam Jam Fest Night of Stars, which was to include — for free admission — one-on-one and three-on-three competitions along with three-point and slam-dunk contests.
