This Bizarre New Kit Kat Flavour Is Dividing Opinion

In Britain, our Kit Kat range only goes as far as a Kit Kat Chunky. Or possibly a Kit Kat Orange, if we’re in a really experimental mood.

However, in Japan they absolutely adore the two chocolate finger biscuits and have over 300 flavours. Yes, 300.

Some of the many varieties include strawberry cheesecake, matcha-green tea and cinnamon cookie, which all sound pretty delightful.

However, there are those that think the company’s gone a tad too far with its latest flavour.

Say hello to Kit Kat’s brand new snack bar, which is flavoured with melon and mascarpone. Yes, the company has combined a fruit and cheese with one of the world’s most popular chocolate bars.

For what reason? According to Kit Kat Japan’s site, the combination “features a mild sweetness of Hokkaido melon and a fresh taste of mascarpone cheese” that creates a refreshing snack.

But not everyone’s convinced.

“Kit Kat has a cheese and melon flavoured option and I’m trying to be disgusted,” tweeted one person. “That sounds horrible!“ another man wrote.

The bars are only available at select stores in Japan, so there’s little chance of us ever trying one - which is probably a good thing. We’re not quite sure our (relatively bland) taste buds are ready for such a combo.
