Thomas Markle: Meghan and Harry have 'hurt the Queen'
Meghan Markle's estranged father Thomas said on Monday (January 27) that Harry and Meghan's decision to step back from their official duties was ''embarrassing'' to him.
He made the comments on ITV's Good Morning Britain.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) THOMAS MARKLE, MEGHAN MARKLE'S FATHER, SAYING:
"And I think they've hurt the Queen, I think they've hurt the royals. It just doesn't work to be going to another country and serving England. It's never going to work. I am a little embarrassed for them and feeling very sorry for the Queen, I have great respect and admiration for the Queen."
Markle has given a number of TV interviews in which he has criticized his daughter, saying they were the only way he could communicate with her.
The 75-year-old previously accused his daughter of "cheapening" the British royal family, before trying to defend his own reputation in a recent Channel 5 documentary.
Meghan has not publicly commented on the situation with her father.
The two could next face each other in court.
Meghan is suing The Mail on Sunday newspaper over its publication of a private letter she sent to her father, in breach of her copyright and human rights.
And the paper aims to use his evidence in the legal battle.
Harry has accused the tabloid press of bullying his wife, likening their treatment to that which his mother Princess Diana suffered.
