May 16—THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville Bulldogs are the number one ranked team in the 3A preseason rankings by ITG Next — Georgia. Behind the Bulldogs is Cedar Grove at number two, followed by Dougherty, Peach County, Sandy Creek and Crisp County.
Thomasville did extremely well last year in Head Coach Jonathan DeLay's first season as head coach. The Bulldogs went 9-4 on the season and were undefeated at 5-0 in the region, taking first place. The Bulldogs made a deep run in the playoffs, getting knocked out in the third round by Carver.
Though they may be ranked number one in the preseason, Thomasville will have their work cut out for them this season. Their schedule doesn't do them any favors. They will play two highly ranked teams in Dougherty and Crisp County back to back. They will also take on Bainbridge in week five who are ranked number two in 4A and they will play Carver in week nine, who bounced the Bulldogs in the playoffs last year.
After a solid spring, the Bulldogs look set to make another playoff run. Thomasville dominated their spring game against Dooly with an impressive running attack and a solid passing game. Their defense also stepped up and put the rest of class 3A on notice. The Bulldogs are coming.
