Thomasville Chapter DAR holds Christmas Open House

Dec. 20—THOMASVILLE- The Thomasville Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) held its Christmas Open House on December 14, at the festive home of Chris Hunt. A Vintage Christmas in Williamsburg featuring vintage ornaments and décor were displayed throughout the Hunt home during the DAR Christmas Open House. The entrance featured poinsettias and holiday trees. Guests were welcomed by Chapter Regent Shelba Sellers who was dressed in Victorian attire. The DAR Christmas Open House was a delightful event which benefits the Lois Elam DAR Scholarship Fund along with other local, state and national projects.

The Hunt home was decked out for the holidays! The elegant dining room featured a pineapple and apple centerpiece surrounded by beautiful settings of holiday china, elegant crystal and glowing candles. There were also Revolutionary War figurines on display. In the living room were lit holiday villages and porcelain Santas. Assorted fruit and berry trimmed greenery and wreaths dressed the fireplace. The sitting room featured a ceiling high Christmas tree trimmed with festive ornaments and Santa's train was moving on a track around the tree. There were vintage Christmas trees decorated in silver, white, red ribbons and candles displayed throughout the home along with assorted nutcrackers, large Santas, holiday carolers and even a large snowman. The home's exterior also shined brightly with a variety of Christmas decorations on the front lawn including Santas, snowmen, elves, carolers and a nativity scene.

While touring the Hunt home, attendees enjoyed holiday punch, wine, cheese, finger sandwiches, Christmas cookies and desserts. The Thomasville Chapter DAR would like to thank Chris Hunt, DAR members, prospective members and friends for helping to make the event a success.
