Thomasville City Schools announces interim superintendent

Jan. 17—THOMASVILLE — Thomasville City Schools has named an interim superintendent while the school board searches for a permanent leader.

Alisa R. McLean was named Wednesday as the interim superintendent of Thomasville City Schools. Chris Kennedy retired as superintendent at the end of 2023.

McLean is a retired former superintendent of the Granville County Schools and had a 30-year career in public education, the Thomasville City Schools Board of Education said in a prepared statement.

"Her rich experiences showcase her leadership at both district and state level educational agencies, as well as her involvement in multiple organizations where her focus remains on improving outcomes for students, teachers and principals," the statement said.

McLean said her focus is "helping to make schools and communities the best they can be for children."
