Who are those guys? Get to know the state bound Marian soccer team

MISHAWAKA — The Mishawaka Marian boys soccer team will try to win the program's third state championship this Saturday when it faces Brebeuf Jesuit Prepatory (16-4-1) in the 2A title game at IUPUI's Michael Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium.

Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.

The Knights' last state title was in 2016. Coach Ben Householter's team punched its ticket to the State Finals with a 3-2 win over defending champion Fort Wayne Canterbury in an exciting semistate game last Saturday at Chesterton. Jaxson Hundt and Eli Moody scored Marian goals, with the other coming on a Canterbury own goal, all occurring in the first half.

Marian beat South Bend Clay (9-0), Glenn (9-0), South Bend Saint Joseph (4-3, OT), NorthWood (1-0) and West Lafayette (2-1) to reach last weekend's semistate.

The Knights are led by one of the most accomplished forwards in the South Bend area in Hundt, who has scored 28 goals this season and 66 over his four-year career. Hundt has scored in each of Marian's postseason games during its run to the state championship.
