What are those red letters? The Contemporary Austin has a new mural downtown

A new mural in downtown Austin invites you in with big red letters and a quote that reads: "In a dream you saw a way to survive and you were full of joy."
The quote comes from the work of artist Jenny Holzer, and the mural has been put up at the Contemporary Austin's Jones Center museum (700 Congress Ave.) in conjunction with an exhibit of the same title. The exhibit opened last month and features eight women artists. It will be on view through Feb. 12.
Holzer's work "prompts people to revisit the ideas they hold and invites them to act for change. Our hope is that presenting this text in the heart of downtown Austin, seven blocks from the Texas Capitol building, will do the same. The message is simultaneously critical, reflective and inspiring," curator Robin K. Williams said in a statement about the mural.

Artists in the exhibit include Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, Adriana Corral, Ellie Ga, Juliana Huxtable, Tala Madani, Danielle Mckinney, Wendy Red Star and Clare Rojas. The exhibit explores the intersections of narrative, identity and power, according to the Contemporary Austin.
Holzer designed a lot of her work for public spaces, so people can come across them by chance.
"These unexpected encounters with words in the midst of every day life create opportunities for reflection on truth, power, violence, joy, idealism, love and hope, helping us envision pathways toward a new and better future," according to the Contemporary Austin.
