Here’s the logline: Convinced it’s one last, necessary crime on the path to redemption, unapologetic and free-spirited Inez kidnaps 6-year-old Terry from the foster care system. Holding on to their secret and each other, mother and son set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity, and stability in New York City.

Executive producers are Eddie Vaisman, Julia Lebedev, Lena Waithe, Rishi Rajani and Brad Weston.

In our Sundance review of the film, Aramide Tinubu wrote for Shadow and Act, “Told over 15 years from 1994 to 2005 in a rapidly gentrifying New York City, A Thousand and One is one of the most breathtakingly honest films presented in a long while.”

At the film’s Sundance premiere, Taylor said, “This was such a special project to me, how passionate she was, how beautifully the script was written on top of the fact that Inez was from Harlem, I’m from Harlem– just reading it, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I got on my self-tape, I took my weave off, I took my makeup off, I was like ‘This is my Mo’Nique moment…this is my Precious moment.’ [laughs] I was ready to fight for it. I was six months post-partum during this project and just dealing with life and I put it all into Inez.”
