Thousands of air fryers and air fryer ovens recalled by Best Buy

GHENT, WV (WVNS) — Thousands of air fryers and air fryer ovens were recalled by Best Buy because of fire, burn, and laceration hazards.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, more than 180,000 air fryers and air fryer ovens were recalled as of March 14, 2024.

The recall is due to the possibility of the air fryers overheating which could cause the handles to break or melt causing a fire and burn hazard. In addition to overheating, the glass doors on air fryer ovens can shatter and cause fire, burn, and laceration hazards.

Insignia Air Fryers and Insignia Air Fryer Ovens are included in the recall, and they will have Insignia on the front or top of the air fryer or air fryer oven. The model numbers that are a part of the recall are NS-AF34D2, NS-AF5DSS2, NS-AF5MSS2, NS-AF8DBD2, NS-AF10DBK2, and NS-AF10DSS2.

The cooking chamber capacities of the air fryer ovens and air fryers range from around 3.4 to 10 quarts, and the product labels with the product number and the brand name Insignia can be found on the bottom of the air fryers and air fryer ovens. They also have plastic and stainless-steel or plastic bodies with stainless-steel and black finishes.

Cashews sold by Walmart are recalled due to undeclared allergens

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission recommended that anyone with one of the recalled air fryers or air fryer ovens immediately stop using them. Contact and refund information regarding the recall can be found on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission website.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, no property damage or injuries have been reported. There were 24 reports of of overheating/melting or glass shattering that included six reports of air fryers catching on fire.

The air fryers and air fryer ovens were sold for between $32 and $180 from November 2021 through November 2023 across the nation at Best Buy stores, on the Best Buy website, on eBay, and through third-party sellers.
