Thousands Commemorate Srebrenica Genocide and Rebury Newly Discovered Victims

Mourners gathered at Potocari Memorial Centre and Cemetery, as families of the victims of the Srebrenica Genocide reinterred newly discovered remains of their loved ones on July 11, the anniversary of the day the killing began in 1995.

Ahmed E Hrustanovic attended the collective funeral to bury the partial remains of his father. Video uploaded to Twitter by Hrustanovic shows a procession of people carrying green coffins toward the cemetery as onlookers gather.

According to local news reports, the remains of 50 victims were laid to rest at the memorial cemetery today, and thousands paid their respects.

In July 1995, at least 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys from Srebrenica were separated by Serb troops from their wives, mothers, and sisters; killed; and buried in mass graves during the Bosnian War.
