Thousands gathered in Baghdad’s Tahrir Square on January 3 to commemorate the first anniversary of the killing of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) reported.

NINA reported that people traveled from various Iraqi governorates to participate the event. The event was dubbed the “Million-Strong Demonstration,” according to Rudaw, who reported that hundreds of thousands participated. Reuters, however, reported tens of thousands of participants. Storyful is unable to independently confirm the size of the crowd.
