Three area girls volleyball teams reach CIF-Southern Section championship matches

Local teams went 3 for 3 in the CIF-Southern Section girls volleyball playoffs Saturday.

Oaks Christian, Simi Valley and Nordhoff all won semifinal matches in their respective divisions to earn a chance at winning a CIF-SS title.

Nicole Zake finished with 20 kills, Brooklyn Stearns had seven kills and Maggie Rhew contributed 33 assists to lead Oaks Christian to a 25-22, 25-18, 26-24 sweep of visiting Chaminade in a Division 3 semifinal.

The Marmonte League champion Lions will play Alemany at home this Saturday at 6 p.m.

Alesia Thomas finished with 15 kills, 16 digs and two aces, Olivia Campisi had five kills, three aces and 11 digs, Abby Montana had five kills and five aces, Kezia Bocasan amassed 36 assists and five digs, Alex Morehead contributed 10 kills, two aces and nine digs, Camdyn Hodgins had 16 digs and two aces, and Marcy Menchaca added three kills to lead Simi Valley to a 25-20, 25-22, 25-18 sweep of host Santa Clarita Christian in a Division 6 semifinal.

The top-seeded Pioneers will host Arrowhead Christian this Saturday at 6 p.m.

Trailing two games to none, Nordhoff rallied to beat host Santa Fe in five games, 22-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-21, 16-14, to advance to the Division 7 championship match.

The Citrus Coast League champion Rangers will play Pacifica Christian at Cerritos College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
